Because my place is vertical, all the heat rises, but it's still not too warm up in my bedroom during this time of year. I would have to have my little wall heaters on all the time at full blast, and I don't want to spend that much on electricity. That's what blankets are for!

It still doesn't charm me, but it ain't that bad. It just doesn't have the magic of the NBC productions. And I have to say it's a bit disconcerting to hear a little Amahl with such a strong British accent. :)

Besides, how many recordings of it are there, anyway? It can stay.

One of the reasons I was willing to sell my old car before we moved here was that the labor cost to replace a 10 cent item was over a $1,000. I couldn't have the oil dripping here.

I went on a bit of an early birthday binge last night on Amazon - got three more Sibelius complete symphony cycles - I'm just loving going through these symphonies and am still looking for my favorite - I do like the three Ormandy performances from the 60s, and I like the Bernstein, NY Phil cycle and also the more recent Paavo Berglund has nice things in it. One of the sets I bought last night is actually on Blu-ray, so that will be a whole different experience.

My super tells me the obnoxious neighbor above me has moved out. What good news! She was making a ton of noise several days ago between 11:00p and 1:00am so I'm happy she's out. We'll see who shows up next.

There have also been a lot of emails today about recording Moonshine and Mistletoe in early 2017. Everyone has a different opinion on what to record,

It's in the 40s and 50s most days. A few occasionally in the 60s.

Post by: George on December 07, 2016, 01:53:41 PM: Well, this morning did not start well. I forgot that I had to attend a training this morning, so I dilly-dallied in my morning ablutions. I would've been on time anyway EXCEPT that when I went to my car, the emergency brake was frozen on! I set my brake (it's a habit) and I forgot that when it gets cold, I need to remember to not set my emergency brake (it's the first really cold spell of the season, so I forgot).

Post by: George on December 07, 2016, 01:54:14 PM: I got a text from one of my staff asking if I was in the building (I wasn't) and I explained that I was going to be late and would have to walk. I walked quickly in the VERY cold morning air. Fortunately, it was kind of warming up, so I didn't totally freeze. I was only about 20 minutes late to the training, which I've taken before. Not much new to worry about. Now I'll walk to lunch (there are a couple of places very close) and then I'll walk the rest of the way home to get my car, then drive back to work. Fortunately, too, I live close enough to walk...which I should be doing anyway. ::)

It's interesting. Only my driver's side key lock seems to freeze. I can almost always unlock the passenger side door with my key. However, I do have a remote fob that can unlock the driver's side door (only), even if the key lock is frozen.

Richard was delightful and he likes doing this with me because my questions always surprise him and take him to unexpected places and memories - all the musical numbers worked beautifully and I got to sing The Whimsey Works - I was the first to ever sing it, and after tonight Richard told me that I'm his favorite with the song.

That's good...but that still doesn't prevent from people driving stupidly. Hopefully, it won't be bad. I just have to get downtown for our Pay-What-You-Can performance.
