And the word of the day is: UNENCUMBERED!
DR vixmom, keep us posted on the van accident. I am very curious to know what was going on with the driver. Was it a robbery get away? out of control van? health emergency? What a nightmare!
I think this country needs a serious blue wave in November to get a Democrat majority in both House and Senate to investigate and impeach a few Supreme Court judges. These sonsabitches have to go.

There have been rumors floating around that the driver had a heart attack, but no official word
There was a place in NY on 11th Ave and like 46th street. Daisy Mae’s. Got me hooked on dry rub ribs. Terrible sides though.

About 10 years ago, I was asked to coauthor a book on Texas barbecue. Driving across the state to eat a barbecue places great, small, known and unknown was a great adventure. Learned a lot. Ate way too much. Met some wonderful people. Got some amazing photos. And the book came out fairly well, if'n I do say so.
How horrific, DR vixmom.

I have a hard copy, but now it is on my Kindle, as well. Your royalty check should be arriving post-haste.

I don't think our reading will take three hours......92 pages.....but that includes the scene breakdown and a page of photos for every scene.....and some scenes end with just a few lines on the last page.
Topic of the Day: our family never went to barbecue places.

We are sitting by the pool bar enjoying drinks.

I loved Dallas BBQ, too.
When co-workers and I moved from L.A. to Danbury in 1989, we went into the city a lot that first year and enjoyed a lot of exploring and casual eating. One of our earliest meals was in the one at 8th Street and University Place - if I'm remembering that location right. I think so. Later, I ate at the one farther east on 8th St. a few times. It was there for a long time, but it looks like it's gone now. I also remember seeing one on West 72nd St. next to the Dakota. Looks like they're still around, but in none of those earlier locations.
They ain't gonna wash themselves!
I am wearing my new Portugal t-shirt I purchased in Porto today.

I definitely frequented all those locations. The one by the Dakota had a weird, castle-like interior, like it had once been a German themed restaurant. The one on University was great. It was actually consistent across the chain.

Not long after the book’s release, I had the nerve to invite the author to a local BBQ jernt in Middletown, Ohio. He was very gracious and tactful 8)

Locally we have a couple decent places like Smoking Pig in San Jose and Trail Dust in Morgan Hill.
And here I am!
Crazy reading about that tragedy last night how many comments I saw where people were like “was it an illegal immigrant?” just looking for a way to politicize it. Those people will be so disappointed today.
And here I am!
What's the name of the book, DR John G?

I know. I don't even want to imagine. :(
And here I am!
Is there such a thing as looking too gay?
Because if there is, I know that that ain't it! ;D
In today’s mail I received a jury duty summons and I’m 18 months too young for “Elective Excusal for Age.”

Up from a nap. Starting The Underground Railroad, which is 10 episodes long.

I love this photo of you 💜
William Daniels and Bonnie Bartlett are celebrating their 73rd anniversary. Always liked them in St. Elsewhere. Would have liked to see him in A Little Night Music.

I did. I saw both him and Cariou, September 1973 and March 1974.
And would you believe? Mr/Ms Moneybags, who offered $100k over list price for a one-bedroom condo in Santa Monica, backed out of escrow. I was able to view it, a helpful thing when you’re trying to purchase, but it’s too small. Charming, but small. Not cheap, either, even at list price.
Yes, but there is so little that I see that I’d want. That one was halfway there. And would you believe? To find a bright side: At least you don't have to feel bad about missing out on that one!
I did not watch the debate. (1) I know who I’m voting for, (2) we all know the candidates and their policies, and (3) I cannot watch That Idiot, The Smearer. Cannot even look at his photo.
I am dismayed at the backlash from Democrats. I’d vote for Biden even if he was in a wheelchair. And I do not feel his campaign has done a good job of promoting his achievements.
And I feel many Americans need some civics lessons. Gawd!

A woman came up to me afterwards and introduced herself and asked me to give her a call.
She says she is an editor - never said what kind - but she says she has a friend who is a producer in NYC and she would like to send him the script.
She said his name was Ben Linden or Peter Linden or something like that, his father was/is also a producer.....
So I may give her a call or at least explore her on the inner web a bit.
AH HA - HHW vibes worked their magic.
We had 48 folks at the reading. The reactions were what I wanted - some laughs in the right spots and some emotional moments as well.
The actors were spot on. We spend about 30 minutes in the Green Room where they asked very good questions and we had some nice discussions.
Everyone was doing the same play - and the audience at the talk back asked just the kind of questions I was hoping the play would provoke.
All in all a terrific experience.

Whoa. Congratulations on a completely successful reading, DR Jrand73!

I didn't move to NYC until 1979!
Went to dance class tonight. Mistake.
Fantastic photo George!
As to the debate - I don't do political, BUT - the Democrats do love to eat their own, just like they did with Al Franken. The media was reprehensible, especially Joy Reid, who should be ashamed of herself, and who spent much of the following day trying to walk back what she'd done in as subtle a way as possible. The hand-ringing on Facebook was nauseating and, amusingly, forgotten by most who were doing it as soon as Governor Newsom and Obama and Lawrence O'Donnell chimed in as the voices of reason. One debate, especially a first debate, does not an election made. It was also the lowest ratings for a debate in decades. Trump did not gain a single vote, I can assure you - nor do I think Biden lost any. And the next day, Biden gave a fiery and VERY coherent speech and he was clearly feeling better after some sleep and his cold getting better. But there are still normally start people calling for him to step down from running - THAT is how you lose an election. There's no stepping down, there's not a single viable replacement with the amount of time remaining, and these normally smart people better flush their nauseating negativity right down the drain.
Pain free vibes for rodzinski

Don’t know how you knew of my pain, but I’ll take it!
