TOD:

I enjoy both versions of THE OLD DARK HOUSE.  The James Whale version is a classic, and well, the remake is William Castle all the way.  You'll know what I mean if you're a fan of William Castle.  Critics often use Hitchcock as the exemplar of auteur theory; Castle could also be used to make the same point.

I really enjoy the Janet Gaynor version, but there is nothing like the remake of A STAR IS BORN that Sid and Judy made.

How did I know that Allison would show up in these films?

The Matthew Broderick  Music Man was dreadful and I hold little hope for the live version they are planning to broadcast from  a couple of miles from here (same place the SOM was broadcast from .. the former  proud center of the now deceased Long Island aerospace industry)

Good day to all!

I'm just popping by to wish everyone a wonderful day. I've had a bit of a rough ride over the weekend, as it was my first Mother's Day without Mom. I'll be okay. I just didn't want to bring my grief in here at its height.

I'll be back and much perkier soon.

Cheers!  :)

Good thoughts to you DR Ryacko!

I will wait until they announce a cast before I start to worry.  Right now, the idea that musicals are appearing on TV is a good thing.

I have the dissertation done except for the page numbers at the bottom of the pages. They want no number on the cover, then Roman numbers for a table of contents and an abstract (2 whole pages) and finally Arabic numerals for the paper itself, except the formatting doesn't work in my version of Word 2010. I watched the video and tried it their way. I read the online Q&As on how to do it and I've just wasted the past 90 minutes on it without getting anything done. And I'm giving up for the night.

Have you tried numbering it as separate documents then merging them all for the final version?  That's how we do briefs when they want Roman for part and Arabic for others. I've even numbered them separately then copy and pasted in to one document and had it work.

Finally home from a VERY long day.  I am zonked.  I was nauseous for most of the day until about eight, when it finally began to abate.  Yes, abate was at eight.  I listened to our band for four hours, then we had our run-through, which was a lot smoother than the day before.  Then I went and had two poached eggs, white toast and some white rice.  I'm not 100% not nauseous, but felt I could keep down that kind of food.
