I have returned from Preview (spoo, dress rehearsal) for MY FAIR LADY A few bumps and bruises, but no total derailments. All in all, a better production than we probably had a right to expect.
Since it was the final dress, we finally had all of the set pieces that we had heard about during the rehearsals, but had never actually seen. Following the Ball scene, to cover the set change, we have Higgins, Pickering and Eliza crossing in front of the traveler, as if they were returning from the Ball, before sweeping into Higgins study for "You Did It." When we finished that cross and came off stage tonight, we found that the crew had stacked all of the set pieces on that one side of the wings, and the three of us found ourselves trapped in this sea of plywood arches, unable to find our way into the study. Ahh, live theater!
