IT'S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL

Well, you've read the notes, you're making the wind sound whilst singing It's A Small World, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently watching spaghetti westerns and making the wind sound.

Oh, BK, you should have seen David Spade's new spoof entertainment news show tonight on the comedy channel.  Harry Reems, the male star of DEEP THROAT, was a guest and he was talking about how ugly the women in porn are today, griping about our favourite gripe, ST: "Where's the fleece on the piece?"  "Where's the pelt below the belt?"  "And what's with these boobs today?  They all seem...FAKE."  A very funny rant.

I have returned from Preview (spoo, dress rehearsal) for MY FAIR LADY  A few bumps and bruises, but no total derailments.  All in all, a better production than we probably had a right to expect.

Since it was the final dress, we finally had all of the set pieces that we had heard about during the rehearsals, but had never actually seen.  Following the Ball scene, to cover the set change, we have Higgins, Pickering and Eliza crossing in front of the traveler, as if they were returning from the Ball, before sweeping into Higgins study for "You Did It."  When we finished that cross and came off stage tonight, we found that the crew had stacked all of the set pieces on that one side of the wings, and the three of us found ourselves trapped in this sea of plywood arches, unable to find our way into the study.  Ahh, live theater!

Thank you, George.

The theater is simple to find.  From I-5, take Hwy 16 west towards the Narrows Bridges.  Take the last exit before the bridges (Jackson).  Turn left at the light, go to the second light, and turn left onto 6th Avenue.  The theater is about three blocks up, on the right hand side.

Hello

My name is Maureen Bailey and I am a sister of Derek Menzie.  Tom Guest has
kindly agreed to pass this email on to you all.

I would personally like to thank everyone who has passed on their kind
thoughts after the death of our dear brother, Derek.  His loss has left a
large gap in the lives of myself, his brother Jamie and sister Judy, as well
as everyone else who knew Derek.  That gap has been filled to a degree by
the overwhelming messages of support and sympathy we have received from so
many people not only in Australia, but from America and UK.  Personally, I
feel very humbled and proud to know that Dereks friendship was welcomed and
embraced by so many people worldwide.  His siblings  (myself, Judy & Jamie)
loved him so very dearly and the messages we have received from all of you -
either directly or indirectly - make me feel that he will live on in many
memories for years to come.  This truly is a great comfort.  I know nothing
can bring him back to us, but knowing that all of you are keeping him alive
in your hearts and minds means a great deal to us.  His crazy sense of
humour, love of the ridiculous, passion for the theatre & arts are only a
part of the whole personality that was Derek.  We loved him for all that he
was - both good & bad - and we will never forget him.

So to all of you - again, thank you so very, very much.

Maureen

Good morning, all!  I'm sitting here listening to Kim Criswell's Irving Berlin album.  She began singing "Let Me Sing and I'm Happy" as I read Derek's sister's note.  When I got to the photo of Derek, I lost it.  I miss all those tacky emails!

So, today is an Arlen-Gershwin morning, a date with my attorney at 2:00, and then serious housecleaning for the arrival of DRMBarnum.  I have to get that $3,000,000 life insurance policy with myself as beneficiary finished before I show DRMBarnum the wonderful view from my roof.

TOD:
CD:  Kim Criswell, Susan Egan, Debbie Gravitte's Menken album
DVD:  Something from Netflix, I forget what's sitting here
   VCR:  the usual suspects

Good Morning DR Elmore. Are you ready for the invasion?

I hope Barnum has a warm sleeping bag. The fire escape can get cold in October  ;D

Veda, the daughter from HELL! Oh, my she was a nasty girl. How could she treat Joan that way? It makes me not want to have children (especially since it seems the good ones die of pneumonia) ;)

We had a great time last night, in spite of the viewing problems. It seems the print of Mildred Pierce was "brittle" in the words of the projectionist, plus they had begun to pack it up to be shipped out to another theatre. It had to be unpacked and "lubricated" so we could view the masterpiece. While that was being done we had more time with Hedda Lettuce, the drag diva who hosts the weekly event. Lots and lots of fun. Next week is To Catch a Thief with the loverly Cary Grant and beautiful Grace Kelly.

Don't drink and drag! This could happen to you! (Hedda's tag line)

Well, I figure if I can't get him onto the roof, I can always freeze him.  I need that $3000000!

Ah, Mr. Moore has returned.

I'm excited about the East Coast party! Talk will be talked, reputations made and ruined and life will go on. All in the space of a week. What more could you want?

I'm listening to Folk Club on Radio Ulster right now. Don't know what I'll be listening to after that. I will bring a couple of CDs to the office after lunch but I have a meeting at 3pm so I won't be able to listen to many of them. Saturday is booked with work, dinner and more drag. I won't be able to meet up with Mr. Barnum or Miss Hegerty until later. Sunday will be a day of rest (unless other plans are made).

DRDanise and I will be seeing City Opera on Sunday at 1:30; DRs MBarnum, Rodzinski, and TPunk are seeing the Moscow Cats Whatever at 3:00, God knows where!  I think Michael wants to put Freddy into show business.

How much of the $3,000,000 would be mine?
