That's all right.

I'll just go around knocking things over.

I'll haunt folks, that's what I'll do.

And when they send for an exorcist, I shall laugh:

Haw! Haw! Haw! Haw!

And I'll sneer, too...but you'll have to take my word for it, because you won't be able to see the sneer.

Hello, DR Matt H.

Are you in fine fettle this afternoon?  Did "Two for the Road" arrive in the mail?

Ha ha! How's that for an instant response?  :D

I can't think of any film that so deftly combines humor, heartbreak, romance, drama, and slapstick.

And Albert Finney and Audrey Hepburn are simply two gods living on Earth. Finney has never looked as good, and Audrey, well, she's perfection.

I started the film over a second time to listen to Stanley Donen's commentary. There are long gaps between comments as he seems to be watching and enjoying the picture as it runs, but it's worth listening to especially if you love this movie as much as I do.

Tonight, I'll be watching the 1953 WAR OF THE WORLDS. I didn't buy it the first time it was issued on DVD, so this updating is supposed to be eons better in terms of quality.

Well, "Two for the Road" was an instant favorite the day I saw it in the Carolina Theater in Greenville SC.

I've loved, loved, loved this movie all these years, and I have it on Laserdisc, but the DVD seems to be the best version out there.

I also got the Looney Tunes Golden Collection - Volume 3 from a used vendor paying about half what it was being sold for new.

I have all three of those collections and never seem to find time to watch them.

Yes, I have that laserdisc too, and it has some damage and is not very sharp. The DVD is much, much superior in every respect.

I'm told the discs are "on their way".  IF they're here by two, I will have one hour to pack up as many as possible.  Oh, I see the truck now.

What else has Fox released?  Or is "Two for the Road" flying solo?

TWO FOR THE ROAD is probably my favorite Henry Mancini score (if it isn't, CHARADE is). Naturally, it was no Oscar nominated in 1967.

The nominees (and they're all good, too): COOL HAND LUKE, DOCTOR DOLITTLE, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD, IN COLD BLOOD, and the winner, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE.

"Far From the Madding Crowd" is the best of the nominees...IMO.

Simply glorious score for a great film.

THAT film NEEDS to be out on DVD!

EAST OF EDEN is a wonderful film.  Friends and family of Mr Dean have said that his Cal is most like his real life personality.

I played "Two for the Road" nearly to death in college.  I used to listen to it while writing papers for my 20th Century literature class.  It was especially helpful for my paper on "The Sound and the Fury."

Drum, the instrument, or Drum, the comic strip?

 :o

I've never heard of Drum the comic strip.  Is it any good?  I just assumed that it was for the instrument.

The DVD of "East of Eden" is, to me, spectacular.

I have watched it twice in the past few months.

And inside TWO FOR THE ROAD is a flyer saying that the next Fox Studio Classics coming in February 2006 are PINKY, A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN, and DADDY LONGLEGS.

Also release in this wave with TWO FOR THE ROAD and ORCHESTRA WIVES was THE RAINS CAME.

I will definitely be watching it tonight instead of network TV reruns. I should be finished in plenty of time to watch LAW & ORDER "live."

I've never seen "Pinky", and I'm looking forward to "Daddy Long Legs"...which has always seemed rather chopped up in TV showings I've seen.

I hope it's the complete film.

I wish they'd issue "The Rains of Ranchipur" in stereo.

Magnificent music by Hugo Friedhofer and Lana is spectacular as the temptress/slut/lady.

I feel sure they will issue it complete. I find a lot to like, but I think it's too long. Astaire and Caron each get  lengthy dream ballets apiece which really slows down the momentum. I love Astaire, but sometimes, even his dream numbers lack true inspiration.

It has also been all over the nes today that bandleader Skitch Henderson died. I guess it dates me to remember him, but I certainly do.
