A relatively relaxing day today. I get to work at home, on a return with six foreign subsidiaries and about nine different state returns. But at least I get to work at home.

We're seeing 70, GIRLS, 70 at Encores tonight, assuming I get my required work done. I keep reading complaints that Olympia Dukakis is on book while most of the others aren't, but I remember when everyone was on book at these Encores shows.

Hmm... What's not to like? DR Jane knows my particularly likes, but there really is not a piece of See's that I would ever turn down. Or put back in the box after checking to see what type it was.

However...

The nut clusters, especially the Almonds in Dark Chocolate.
The Molasses Chips in either Milk or Dark Chocolate.
Victorian Toffee
California Crunch
And See's Peanut Brittle is my favorite commercial peanut brittle.

RE: "High Anxiety" - I remember seeing this with my parents when I was younger. It was one of our "family movie nights". Hmm... The only things I remember about the movie are the "spinning", the takeoff on "The Birds", and Cloris Leachman's scary nurse makeup. Guess I'll have to re-visit it sometime... Or not.

Andrea Martin is one of our great comic treasures. I remember seeing her on stage in Second City in Toronto many moons ago. I think Martin Short and John Candy were in that same company. And SCTV - well, anyone who can make you fall on the floor doing Indira Gandhi is a comic master! She was working in Toronto around the same time I was starting to write. Did a guest shot on King of Kensington, my first writing gig - the show, not her episode, as I recall. She was also in a Canadian movie (not one that will be remembered among the greats) called Martha, Ruth and Edie. A trilogy. I wrote the Martha section. She was Ruth - and was very good.

April Fool's Part Deux:

So... When I got to the theatre yesterday for the matinee, I checked the callboard for any announcements like I usually do. There was a rehearsal schedule posted for Monday already. *This may only make sense to DR Ron Pulliam, but...

1:00-3:00 - Reinstatement of Egyptian Vault scene.
3:00-4:00 - Update Origin of the Species
4:00-5:00 - Hugh to studio to record voiceovers for new typing sequences

Hmm... OK... And I walked away...

And, apparently, other people looked at that list and did the same, "OK... Since we have to be there on Monday anyway for day work..."

It was an April Fool's joke. But since we've all been in this whole "everything is still changing" mode, a couple of us sort of took the posted rehearsal schedule seriously. Heck, even our conductor had to think about it!

While I have your attention, DR J, I wish to state for the record that what finally made me decide that I really really wanted to come back to HHW was lurking and reading about your Broadway debut. I was just so excited for you and I so wanted to be a small part of it and not just an onlooker.

In other Lestat news...

The show is going well. And I'm continuing to get more comfortable with the whole process and with my keyboard part.

The audiences have been good, but we do seem to run hot one night, then cold the next - at least from what I can gather from the house feed in my headphones. We had our first two show day yesterday, and we had decent audiences for both shows. However, the matinee audience was really vocal - people started cheering after the final curtain line! I could even spot people in the audience putting their hands in the air while they cheered via the conductor's monitor.

...And I have to say the post-show "eavesdropping" while walking through Times Square has been quite interesting to say the least.

OOOHHHH!!!!

I went to Joe Allen the other night after the show, and had their macaroni and cheese side dish... YUM-MY!!!!!! So, I think my next meal there will most likely consist of side dishes - the sauteed spinach and the macaroni and cheese.

*The macaroni and cheese is baked in individual gratin dishes. I'm guessing three or four cheese - cheddar, parmesan, fontina, maybe a touch of asiago. And there's just enough of a crust on top from the broiler. Hmm, Hmm, Good!
