Does that mean that PUNKY BREWSTER is not really a "classic"

One of my most-HATED words...one which sets my teeth on dege...and one I wish I would NEVER hear again:

The mispronunciation of "mischievous" as "mischievious".

"Mischievous" has three syllables...and ONLY three syllables...miss'-chi-vus..with accent on the first syllable.

My teeth grind when I hear "miss chee'-vee-us"...because NO SUCH WORD EXISTS.

:D

IRregardless.

Instant or OTHERWISE....no....although there were several "Very Special" episodes....

I think that The Facts of Life had more "Very Special" episodes than any other series.  :P

A fellow bought a new Mercedes and was out on the interstate for a nice evening drive. The top was down, the breeze was blowing through what was left of his hair and he decided to open her up. As the needle jumped up to 80 mph, he suddenly saw flashing red and blue lights behind him. "There's no way they can catch a Mercedes," he thought to himself and opened her up further. The needle hit 90, 100.... Then the reality of the situation hit him. "What am I doing?" he thought and pulled over. The cop came up to him, took his license without a word and examined it and the car. "It's been a long day, this is the end of my shift and it's Friday the 13th. I don't feel like more paperwork, so if you can give me an excuse for your driving that I haven't heard before, you can go."
The guy thinks for a second and says, "Last week my wife ran off with a cop. I was afraid you were trying to give her back!"
"Have a nice weekend," said the officer.

Hi - I just got back from LACC and the reading of the second act. Boy, is it GOOD! Lots of laughs, lots of fun. The characters are wacky 50's TeeVee/Movie personages. Wonderful stage effects.

But the SONGs, boys and girls, the songs are my favorite part. The tunes hook ya just right - every one of them -- hard not to hum along by the third A.

And the lyrics are really specific and telling and clever without cutsie-ness. The rhymes are unexpected, and sometimes just THAT makes the laugh happen - the delight of hearing the unexpected rhyme. And wads of internal rhymes. I tell ya, BK does have a way with words. Some of those phrases - I heard my larcenous little mind mutter - wish I'd written that! Oh, can't wait 'til you hear it!!! I know you'll like it!

Farmer Joe was in his car when he was hit by a truck. He decided his injuries from the accident were serious enough to take the trucking company (responsible for the accident) to court.

In court the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning farmer Joe. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine'?" said the lawyer.

Farmer Joe responded, "Well I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule Bessie into the...."

"I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted, "just answer the question."
"Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine'!"

Farmer Joe said, "Well I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road...."

The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question."

By this time the Judge was fairly interested in Farmer Joe's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule Bessie."

Joe thanked the Judge and proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other.

I was hurting real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear ole Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans.

Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes.
Then the Patrolman came across the road with his gun in his hand and looked at me.

He said, "Your mule was in such bad shape I had to shoot her. How are you feeling?"

YAY - finally time to get on the HHW boards and catch up... but it's been a while since I've been here, so I'm not going to catch up, I'm just going to jump on board the moving train.

TOTD - most kids these days can not end a sentence without the word "yeah" at the end.  Not to mention the use of the word "like".  The DP uses the phrase "It's like..." and never finishes the sentence.

Otto, our new puppy will be finally joining us on Friday.  We are VERY excited.  I'll post pictures upon his arrival.

LOL--i can't even play it on TV.  When I'm watching it I feel like I'm stoned and I'm in a statistics class.

Spent more time watching old TV than DVDs today.

Started with a MURDER SHE WROTE episode, another one I had no memory of at all. Guest starring were Chad Everett, Lois Nettleton, Steve Forrest, Doug Barr, and Jameson Parker.

Watched the Biography episode about Clara Bow. Such a sad story. Imagine being the top box-office star and within a couple of years, you can't get a job in Hollywood. Same thing happened to William Haines, for reasons different than Clara's fall, of course.
