Surgery Report, Part Two (not as graphic)
Today, I saw Dr. Ozolin. He took a new series of x-rays and we discussed the case. This doctor also thinks that it is possible to replace just the lower half of the artificial hip, but he says that he will need to be prepared, at the time of the surgery, to do it either way. The doctor says that to be prepared, he will have to order the file from the previous replacement so that he can have all of the replacement parts available.
Fortunately, a lot of the pre-op stuff that the other surgeon wanted done can be bypassed by this surgeon. For example, donating my own blood for the surgery extends the pre-surgery time out an additional two to three weeks while I donate the blood. This surgeon uses a procedure that can recycle a lot of my own blood (
I didn’t ask), so we can eliminate the need for me to donate, and therefore that waiting period. So, we should be ready for the surgery in about four weeks, or approximately June 1.
Although this new surgeon is not the good-looking
hottie the previous surgeon was, I won’t be dating either one, so I guess I will go with the best. The doctor’s nurse will call me on Wednesday or Thursday to schedule the exact date and to pick the hospital.
Okay, that is it, I guess.
There will be a quiz later!
