DR PennyO - I read that book about 10 years ago when I was getting the urge to liven up our holidays by doing things differently. It convinced me that ritual is not a bad thing, which came as a great relief to my ever-so-traditional DH and DS. As my DS says, "Don't mess with Christmas!"

RE bookstore/coffee house establishments: Thirty some years ago, my best librarian friend and I would get frustrated in our entry-level jobs and fantasize about opening someplace called The Bookery Bakery. When we first visited a megastore with a coffee shop, we realized someone had finally done it.

DR Elmore - at Barnes & Noble this afternoon, I looked for the Eileen Heckart book and they didn't seem to have it. I did get Anna Quindlen's Imagined London: A Tour of the World's Greatest Fictional City and the first in the Stephanie Barron Jane Austen mystery series. And the tote bag premium - I can't resist tote bags!

Just heard from Mr. Kevin Spirtas, who was in town doing a Days of Our Lives event, at which he was selling his CDs. He was supposed to come and bring back what was leftover, but he called and said he'd lost HIS wallet. His story, thus far, has a happier end than mine - he found it - he'd left it at the Sportsman's Lodge and they'd found it and held it for him. I wish that my story could have the same ending, and I'm still hopeful that somehow it will.

I am proud to say I have lost a bit more than 10 pounds... It has been a hard slog... I want lose another 5 to 10 lbs.
