DR CILLA LIZ - I am intrigued by the movie you describe...I didn't even know it existed.  Is it produced by the original documentary team?

Product Description
The 1975 cinema vérité classic Grey Gardens, which captured in remarkable close-up the lives of the eccentric recluses and cousins to Jackie Onassis, Big and Little Edie Beale, in their decrepit East Hampton mansion, has spawned everything from a midnight-movie cult following to a Broadway musical remake an upcoming Hollywood adaptation. Now, Albert and David Maysles have revisited their landmark documentary with a sequel of sorts, culled from hours of never-before-seen footage recently found in the filmmakers’ vaults.

The Beales of Grey Gardens was just released directly to DVD in the past couple weeks. I got it from Netflix.

There are Sharon McNight's nuts and there are FJL's puns that some of us are waiting for tonight, in vain!

I suspect the person Alet was really mad with was herself for messing up and probably had little to do with the miscommunication about changing and mics. It's VERY hard for a performer to just forget a bad screw-up and push ahead, especially if you're a perfectionist which I suspect she is.

I remember I had a terrible night one night at LA CAGE. Kept dropping stupid pieces of the monologues in the nightclub (thankfully, it didn't affect the other performers, and I hope the audience didn't notice how I was DYING inside.) Anyway, afterward, I was in a black, black mood and snapped at people I later begged forgiveness of.

I decided to finish the MURDER SHE WROTE boxed set tonight.

The first episode dealt with a play adapted from one of Jessica's books, and one of the critics who pans the play ends up dead. A good mystery with some grand actors: Lloyd Bochner, Carol Cook, Dean Stockwell, Eugene Roche.

The next was the season ending episode featuring Shirley Jones as a senatorial candidate battling against Robert Fuller for the party nomination. Also guesting were Eddie Albert and George Grizzard.

A favorite Sharon McNight story:

We were at dinner at our friend Ellen's along with Sharon, as well as Toby (Dylan wasn't born yet) and Ellen's dog.  Someone spotted a puddle of pee, and we were trying to figure out which canine had done it.  Sharon suddenly exclaimed, "I think i have the answer.  Toby's wee-wee is wet!"

The only bonus feature in the set was an episode from Season 5 (to be released in January). In this one, the US World Cup Ski Team is snowed into a ski resort when murder begins to take the lives of some of the team members. Emma Samms and Barry Newman were among the guests.

Oh, years ago, in Dames at Sea, in Good Times Are here To Stay, I just happened to start a verse too early!

My, a co-star was so mad at me!! BUT, to this day, I'm adamant I WAS right and THEY were late!
I just don't know how I did it! Really!
I sure did not notice anything... Only that one person next to me grabbed my arm because I also was moving too early but i did not know what was going on!

She (the co-star!) got over it! LOL!

But boy, the looks she kept giving me during the show and backstage!

I concluded the evening with the 1938 A CHRISTMAS CAROL. I hadn't seen this in decades, and I've had the boxed set of Christmas-themed movies for a year or so without watching this one.

I was very pleased that the black and white image was so well preserved with only a stray slight scratch or two to mar things. And the film is only 69 minutes so it moves at a very steady pace and was much more enjoyable than I remembered.

I guess tomorrow I'll get to PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MAN'S CHEST. It's LONG, so it will take a good part of the afternoon to watch it.

Good evening DRs and H/Ks -- It is just coming up to the end of act I of "The Brain" on the west coast right now.  I REALLY wish I could have gone back and seen a last performance, but I certainly hope that the videotaping works out well.

I also hope that our Grande Mensch, dear BK, has a nice day tomorrow, and can catch his breath for a few hours.

It's time for me to toddle off now, and also get some rest.   But I just noticed that toward the end of yesterday, I became a God here in the hallowed halls of HHW.  I just don't know what to do with myself!

Goodnight all.....goodnight MB and sleep well.....goodnight elmoore, you pixie.....goodnight Laura, and I'm sure your boa was lovely.

Goodnight Lucy!

Wasn't Rad Fulton also in that movie?

Yes, as well as Adam Williams. It was star studded with my favorites!

DR MBarnum, "The Last Sunset" has a reputation as one of the oddest westerns ever made.

Did nothing seem amiss to you?

It didn't seem much different than any other westerns of the era, although one aspect of the film could be considered very controversial...and maybe just a bit on the yuckky side...but so as not to give away any spoilers, I won't mention it.

I picked up a budget DVD of an old 1950s religious anthology show which I had never heard of...A WAY OF LIFE...it had four episodes just jam packed with B movie actors..Richard Denning, Donald Woods, Hilary Brooke, Phyllis Coates, Kent Smith, Gregg Palmer, Charles McGraw, Richard Jaeckel, Alex Nicol...and 3 of my interviewees popped up in 3 different episodes...Anne Kimbell, Diane Jergens, and Dorothy Green!

On top of that most of the 4 stories were pretty interesting and really expressed the values of love, friendship, forgiveness, and not hurting others....with a heeping dallop of infidelity and gun fighting.

For $7 a pretty entertaining 2 hours.
