Number of unintended pregnancies
STD epidemics
Drunk Drivers
Teenagers starting to smoke
Not wearing helmets or seat belts
or, a BK favorite, driving while phoning.

Where is the Fear when we need it?

Then there is the misdirected fear:

after 9/11 these was much discussion of the danger of flying, little discussion about the danger of being in a high-rise.

Well, must agree with you. Let me ask you this: since much (but certainly not all) of the bad behavior you cite is generational, do you think that the under-30 crowd is more reckless today than in the past?

My DA VINCI CODE DVD played just fine in three different DVD players. First saw it at best friend John's house, and then I've watched it two more times on different players at my house.

It's global warming, I tell ya!  It's the end of the world!

Actually, that's what people have been saying today.  I don't remember the exact stats, but it was something like Phil having not seen his shadow only four times during his first eighty years as the official Groundhog, and then not seeing it eleven times during the past twenty years.  

So yes, it does all add up to Global Warming.

Oh, boy! I wish Global Warming were a joke! Unfortunately.....

Next came a funny episode of THE OFFICE where there were two showers in anticipation of next week's wedding of Phyllis and Bob Vance. A Ben Franklin "enactor" was the "stripper" at the ladies' party while a real female stripper was hired for the men's party. All of the Ben Franklin stuff was priceless, and Michael's growing discomfort when given a lap dance was also very funny, especially when his guilt caused him to call his girl friend to confess his "sin."

And, of course, the continuing saga of Jim, Pam, and Karen has all us fans wondering what's going to happen next.

Finished out the afternoon with last night's SCRUBS, a not especially funny outing revolving around Dr. Kelso's and his tendency to slack off of doing any actual work. There's a man in a lot of pain and disapppointment if the writers would ever dig beneath the surface of his sarcasm and indifference.
