Question for BK:  What motion picture costume design, good or bad, made your jaw drop the first time you saw it?

Hedy Lamarr in Ecstasy.  ;D

The first time I saw To Catch A Thief I was pretty amazed by the costume ball (Edith Head, I think).

I remember thinking how bad and yet enjoyable Jenny Agutter's non-costumes were in Logan's Run.

My question for  "Ask BK Day"............

This is selfish, for the next time that I am driving around in L.A. ---  What would be the closest major cross streets to where your family home was when you grew up?  Olympic & La Cienega...... Or Robertson?   And was your house on Sherbourne?

You know, it's very funny (and kind of "spooky" to quote Dame Edna), but Benjamin Kritzer seems to have lived right in that area also.  Go know !

The two major cross streets are Pico and La Cienega - on Sherbourne about three blocks south of Pico, between Airdrome and 18th, just like in the books - I don't actually ever reveal the number - don't know why, really, since I do for the house on Bolton Rd.  It's 1772

Carl Reiner told the story about how he would dream these great ideas for movies and then forget exactly what they were by morning, remembering only that he had that great idea come to him.  So he decides to put a pad and pen next to his bed, and one night he dreams this great idea, wakes himself up and writes quickly, then goes back to sleep, secure that he'd written it down.  Then, he looks at it the next morning, and on the pad in clear writing are the words:  "Wow, what a great idea for a movie!"

Glad to see that everyone on message baords I read this morning seems to be in agreement about the train wreck on AMERICAN IDOL last night. Only a couple of guys seem to have gotten through unscathed. Blake seemed to have the most support on the boards that I read though Phil was also strong.

Most everyone agreed that Sundance and Sunjaya did themselves no favors. And others were thinking Chris S. might have turned off the audience by talking back to Simon so early in the competition. I agree that it was a bad, bad move on his part.

I agree, most of last night's performances were duds. During the second half I switched over to Veronica Mars- much more entertaining. I don't specifically remember Chris- was he the one that Ryan Seacrest so awkwardly goaded into "defending" himself to Simon? I liked the Beatbox guy, the Justin Timberlake guy, the big curly headed guy, and the last guy.

For those who'd care to, the DVD of Deceit is on amazon and since it officially streeted there yesterday, it can be reviewed.  So, if you're of a mind to, you can!

Yes, the last guy...Phil.  I'm not great with their names yet.

As for Chris Sligh talking back to Simon....I blame Ryan Seacrest for his baiting on that issue.

Ryan took quite a few Simon potshots last night.  And Paula looked like an idiot.  Whoever does her hair should be fired.

I'm getting really tired of Paula interrupting Simon.  More and more, Simon is absolutely DEAD-ON in his assessments of these performances.

Paula couldn't give an original opinion on anything.  She parrots Randy every time.

I agree with all of your Paula comments. I would like to add that she is doing a remarkable job of coping with her substance abuse problem (allegedly :))

Hmm... Well, those five guys may not have received multiple segments, but a couple of them were featured early on in their initial audition rounds, especially Nick Pedro due to his previous history with the show.  Even Blake has really not received that much coverage.  I think his talent is strong - and his beat-boxing has been his "hook" so far.

In general, I sense that a bunch of the finalists were chosen due to their backstory - whether or not we've seen them featured yet.  -I think the only reason Antonella made it was due to her best friend not making it.  The same goes for Sanjaya (in regards to his sister).  And I suspect Sundance was put through since they probably filmed a couple of segments about him, and they didn't want to waste that footage.

Although, as I mentioned last night, I believe nerves and how those nerves affected their song choices were the big culprits last night.

I hope that Antonella gets cut soon.  Not only is her first name similar to mine, but we share the same last name. And apparently there is some new controversy over questionable photos of her being posted all over the internet. She doesn't seem like someone I'd like comparisons being made to.

For those who want to get a head start with their Brain reviews, you can now review it at http://cdbaby.com/cd/brainfromplanetx

Then you can just cut and paste that for amazon next Tuesday and we'll have two for the price of one.
