DR edisaurus - The dessert I had at Rathbun's was their "Gooey Toffee Cake" - which, I'm guessing is their version of the "traditional" Sticky Toffee Pudding.  It was quite dee-lish!  And it was served with a scoop of Jack Daniels Ice Cream (vanilla ice cream flavored with a good shot of Jack Daniels).  -And the ice cream playing off the hot cake and the caramel sauce.... Oooohh.... *I could make a brunch just out of that!  ;)

HOO and RAY!

And I even started Page 11!!!!!

Hmm.... OK, in honor of SETCs... Everyone do Combination 3 - Ballet/Jazz with 2 counts of 8 to show off any of your specialties.

*And by specialties, I mean tumbling, acro(batics), turns, etc.  -Not specialties as in "tellies".  -Which some young women do sometimes try to show off - on purpose or not.  ;D

And now, as if he had not done enough work today already, DR JoseSPiano will lead us all in a rousing chorus of The Donut Lament.

And the guy just swept around me while I've been sitting here, so I guess I can squat here for a bit longer.  -Of course, I'm not really squatting right now, but with this crowd, sometimes a clarification is needed.  ;)

I am an avid Randy Newman fan, too, so I'm very happy about that!

Don't I count! I even like his Faust!

DR MBarnum- As others have stated, DO NOT stay in Little Tokyo.  And I'd say the best time to check it out would be during the lunch hours.  Otherwise, everyone was/is working and just not out on the streets.  -At least that's what I remember from my last trip to LA.

And if you want a true L.A. Culinary experience, you must try Phillipe for their French Dip sandwich!  -It's on the edge of Chinatown.  -So, if you plan to hit check out the train station, you'd just be a short walk from there.  -And you'd also be close to Olivera (?) Street if you want to indulge in some Mexican food.

As for "Caroline In the City"  - I liked Malcolm Gets and Eric Lutes too, but I really liked Andy Lauer.  Good calves from all the rollerblades.  ;)

And there are many other things I would and should comment on, but I need to get back to the "room" and start playing callbacks in a few.  And I think I'm going to head back to my hotel room to partake of some Dark Chocolate Tam-Tams (Thank You! DR edisaurus!)... So...

Laters....

*Which will probably be tomorrow night's dinner break since I'm playing until 11:00 tonight, and the it will be right to bed to rest up for the third and final day of auditions.

I'd have say that THE most memorable audition so far was one young woman's rendition of "Adelaide's Lament" from Guys and Dolls.  She somehow had the ability to change keys with each note she sang, and sometimes she even changed keys while holding a note.  Now that's talent!  ;D

Mrs. Miller's granddaughter, perchance?

Andy was/is pretty darned cute!  He was also in a version of "War of the Worlds" with C. Thomas Howell that was released direct to video...it was made around the same time as Tom Cruise's version. ::)

It would be like asking Lotte Lenya to play Renee Fleming.

No, rumor has it that part will be offered to Antonela Barba, of American Idol infamy.

She alone has the courage to wear that dress!

I've always enjoyed the songs that he's written for movies (at least, the ones that I've seen), but I've never really searched for or listened to songs that he's performed as a singer/songwriter...other than "Short People."

Waht? Mr George (I have ever musical show album -ever) doesn't have Randy Newman's Faust?

With the vocal talents of Linda Ronstadt, Don Henley, James Taylor, Elton John, Bonnie Raitt, and Randy Newman .

Does anyone remember the short-lived, ill-fated musical Marlowe from 1981?
Here is the opening paragraph of Frank Rich's review in The New York Times:

When everything goes right in a musical, the audience feels a rush of exhilaration that is the quintessence of Broadway. And what happens when everything goes wrong? Well, when everything goes wrong, another kind of giddiness sets in - that same slaphappy feeling that comes when Laurel and Hardy send a grand piano crashing down a flight of stairs.  [The review goes on from there, and needless to say, the show didn't last long.]

To me, this Board is that piano.  It is ever so much fun give it the slightest of nudges, and the DRs take it straight for those stairs!  Wheeeeeeeeeee!
