He wanted to see a Blu-ray disc. The only one he's watched at my house all the way through was TERMINATOR 2 which was probably (along with TALLEDEGA NIGHTS) the most disappointing Blu-ray transfer I own. Looks fine but the dimensionality is barely a step up from the superb standard edition of T2. So, he wanted to see something that would really pop.
Naturally, I suggested CASINO ROYALE, but he had just watched the SD version within the last week and so didn't want to watch the whole thing again so soon.
So, we selected BLAZING SADDLES. Even though the film was made in 1974, the Warners Blu-ray transfer is really superb. Except for the stock footage that's used in the film, blown up so it could be cropped to fit the rest of the Panavision footage (and which looks washed out and grainy), the movie looks brand new, and he was very impressed with how sharp and clean it looked.
