Funny how, out of the many clips I posted about the Poppins show, this is the only one that is commented about! How can one judges a show from one technically faulted clip from Le Poulailler of the theater while it is a different approach from the film sequence AND that the SUPERCALI.... number is quite smashing to me!
Bah umbugh! It's true that the whole production is from Uk! That might have something to do with it!
I guess the people who go and enjoy that show must be jerks and shallow folks!
Sometimes there are so many negative VIBES here that it makes me want to vomit unto the ground!

I once was told to "loosen up!" or something to that effect here! I'm tempted to say the same now!

And I thought I was one critical guy!

Oh well! Life goes on.... ;D

Gee, François, I am sorry if I offended you.  I wasn't aware that you had done the choreography for this production.  And, just so you don't misunderstand, I had no idea whether I was seeing the London produciton or the Broadway production.   I just knew that I didn't care for it.

DR François:  Personal taste is such that you will probably never get 100% agreement about anything here.  That doesn't mean that we don't appreciate your bringing these things to our attention!  :)

Yes, I choreographed that production and if I am upset it's because I'm still waiting for my cheque! The Broadway prod. is a transplant of the London one, so I assume (maybe wrongly!) that it is the same choreographer, even though, that number has been modified for Broadway!

If one looks carefully, there's a costume change for the main characters at the start of the number!

I am WEIRD because, when I see that number, I WANT to go and see the show! Colour me different!

Now, TOD:

What is the song you dislike most?
What is the dish that repells you most?

What is the worst movie you've ever seen?
What is your worst casting for a revival of....

Can't we be more POSITIVE?
The world's already so dreadful!

(Now, I am vicious because I'm waiting for some caustic comments from MusicGuy re my posting! Oy vey!

Has anyone ever raised vegetables in flower pots? I'm thinking about trying to do an indoor vegetable garden in what I may start calling my sun room. I"m thinking no weeding and no bugs....is that too good to be true?

François, I disliked the musical RENT on Broadway.  I know a lot of people who thought it was fantastic.  That doesn't make me right or them idiots.  Or visa versa.  It just means everyone has different tastes.  Perhaps, we should all just lie, and say everything is wonderful, even if we don't believe it.

Where has that naughty dear MBarnum been keeping himself the past few days?  Come out, come out wherever you are dear MB.....

Check a few of the nursing homes around Salem.  He may be out trolling for a date.

DR Francois, I saw MP in New York, and I think it's a disaster with good moments and a few good performances.  While PL Travers may have been unhappy with the film, it's much better dramaturgically, musically and choreographically than the turkey Cameron Mackintosh produced.

And I'm not being NEGATIVE, I'm being critical.

The 80s medley KILLED.  It consisted of Girls Just Want To Have Fun, I Want To Dance With Somebody, I'm So Excited, Lost In Your Eyes, Material Girl, Eternal Flame, and Flashdance (What A Feeling) - all put together very cleverly.

Now that sounds like fun!

I am WEIRD because...

Yes, Matthew Bourne still gets the credit.

Since I really enjoy the London Cast Album, and have never been disappointed by a Bourne endeavor, I am looking forward to seeing the show. As you admit, the YouTube clips are not the finest representation - the official Mary Poppins on Broadway has much better video material.

You are WEIRD because....

Back from a drive - terrible allergies today.  I had a last-minute invite to see Twelve Angry Men this evening at the Ahmanson with Mr. Kevin Spirtas, so I'll be meeting him for some dinner at six and then the show.

I began my afternoon of viewing with CHARADE. It's just as wonderful as it always was, and though that DVD on the reverse side of THE TROUBLE WITH CHARLIE looked a bit grainy this time around, it's still got good color and solid mono sound (but how glorious would that film be now if there could have been that superb Mancini score in stereo surround!)
