In my day it was spelled "reel", as in Virginia.

I do not have a decorating gene. I have to stumble along (A Drowsy Chaperone reference) on my own.

Note for MattH (HHW pre-release guru):

I have in my Amazon Cart:

The following pre-orders:

Planet Earth - The Complete BBC Series
Dreamgirls (Two-Disc Showstopper Edition)
The Queen -
A Little Night Music
Night at the Museum (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Becket (Not indicated as Widescreen?)

Already released:

A Man for All Seasons (Special Edition)

Do you see any missteps?

Not a one. Not even A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC which, while disappointing, does give us Broadway's Len Cariou and Laurence Guittard and the scintillating Diana Rigg who couldn not have been better cast as Charlotte.

I didn't buy the new MAN FOR ALL SEASONS. I have the original release, and the new one is supposed to be sharper and with better color, but as I've only looked at the one I have a couple of times, I didn't see the need to upgrade. Allegedly, it's coming to Blu-ray, so I may think about upgrading when it's released on that platform.

My DS is taking over the painting, now that he is home from class.

That is nice of him.

So your job now switches to watching it dry?    ;)

Or still in shock over the "West Side Zorro" ballet!

That wasn't GUMNAAM DR Elmore, that was BHOOT BUNGLA (Ghost Mansion).

Glad to read that BECKET is going to be widescreen. Actually, I wouldn't want a pan and scan BECKET. It's a magnificent film, and it's BIG: filmed gloriously in Panavision. Anything less than the original aspect ratio would be criminal.

Ooh, I arrived back from lunch and have lovely Amazon.com boxes.

One has the first season of "Popular", a TV show that aired two seasons.

The other has the incredible "Bagdad Cafe"....I just LOVE this movie.

I started my afternoon by finishing ON MOONLIGHT BAY which I began yesterday. Wonderful film and the transfer does it justice.

Next, I went to the to-watch shelf and picked out PYGMALION on Criterion. I've had this for a couple of years but hadn't watched it. Of course, I kept missing the music from MY FAIR LADY, but it's nice to be able to see the story played out in 90 minutes or so.

The Criterion liner notes brag that this is a lustrous new transfer, but the materials they had to work with must have been near destruction since the film has very few places where it isn't damaged in some way with dirt, scratches and water marks all over the place. At several points, it's obvious they had to go to a very grainy 16mm print to find some missing scenes because the sound and picture don't match what comes before or after.

What a shame that such a masterpiece was allowed to deteriorate so horrendously.

Mr. Spirtas has left the premises.  Interestingly, "Laura" was discussed, and prior to my reading the suggestion here.  Mr. Spirtas will most likely not be at the Courts show - I think he got some kind of gig.

Thanx!

I don't have the earlier MAN, and since I plated Henry in a college production, I really want to have it :)

Next was another episode of THE WILD WILD WEST. "The Night of the Green Danger" was another Dr. Loveless episode with the always endearing Michael Dunn as the evil doctor. In this, he played a variation on Robin Hood. Very entertaining.

I completed my afternoon viewing with Sunday night's ENTOURAGE. Pleasant enough episode with Will Stasso playing a gay sitcom writer that Ari was courting for his agency. Not a lot of laughs, but Ari and his gay assistant Lloyd are a funny pair together.

Well, if Spirtas doesn't show up (which always leave that sad looking empty table with a gold name plate just sitting on it) then Laurie and I will have to have our social intercourse with the guys from PASSIONS and Lorenzo Lamas.

Turns out I may have to miss the party, which starts in 20 minutes.  Had a tax emergency from a friend, and I need to be reachable.

Well, it was a kosher party anyway, so it's not like I'm missing out on lobster or shrimp or such.  :)

Is anyone else hearing of local cases of school threats? We have one college being evacuated now, and one high school on high security because of threats.

I danced in the 70s. I do not indulge in that past time any longer. If it was the 1940s and there was real dancing I might change my opinion but jiggering around the dance floor to "house music" which sounds like the same 2 notes sampled and repeated endlessly is not my idea of dancing.

I only dance when my DH and I have imbibed enough at weddings. I hate house music; it makes me want to bite someone.

TOD: The Bump.

Tomovoz can perhaps comment on Penny McLean and her international smash "Lady Bump" and follow-up, "Wizard Bump."
