LICORICE TWIST
« on: April 17, 2007, 12:07:16 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes had both licorice and a twist, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they'll be home just as soon as they finish telling the story of The Randy Vicar and the Pulled Pork.

Today I listened to one of the all-time oddest albums I've ever heard - it was presumably lost - never released, but somehow someone found a test pressing, and that's what the CD was made from.  It's from a legendary producer I've never heard of called Joe Meek, and it was made in 1960 and then shelved.  It's called "Those Plucking Strings" and features the Charles Blackwell Orchestra playing folk songs with melody line played by pizzacato strings.

Should we blame it on the Bossa Nova today and not Jose.

Joe Meek is indeed a legendary producer of pop records. He was obsessed with Buddy Holly and committed suicide on the anniversary of Holly's death.

Meek is best remembered for "Telstar" bur produced MANY discs that were successful in the UK.

Does the story of The Randy Vicar and the Pulled Pork involve pinguidity?

"Joe Meek - The Alchemist Of Pop" is an excellent introduction to his work.

Last night, I worked concessions for a two-day film festival of Dance on Film (check out the Artist's Website link).  The second half of last night's evening was "Ballet Russes" that has been discussed here.  I'm not scheduled to work at tonight's show, but it was fun and very interesting. :)

And coming up here soon, I'll have some more auditions to send out vibes for - but in the meantime, I'll offer up some "Choose-Your-Need" vibes for anyone who has need for them.

And vibes for all who have friends/family in the Virginia area after this really scary day...

And I've had "Dancing Through Life" stuck in my head all day...and of course it wouldn't be seemly for it to stop now.

Ha - that song and the TOD certainly fit together quite nicely.

Speaking of which, I have most certainly participated in the "Brain Tap."

How is your DM, MissKaren, Cason?

She is well -- she is working on her third paper for her degree...well, she was, I think she may have finished it this evening.

She is looking at making a trip out here towards the end of this week/week-end, so it'll be really nice to have her out to LA and me being able to return the favor as I've been the one who has been coming back to Arizona a bunch here lately.
