I began my afternoon of view with the completion of the MURDER SHE WROTE episode set in Moscow that I began last night. Also among the guest cast was Adrian Zmed.

I had time for one more MURDER SHE WROTE episode, and this one was set back at Jessica's alma mater with the arrest of one of her dearest professor friends who confessed to a murder he didn't commit. Among the guest stars were E.G. Marshall and Dinah Shore (in a lamentably bad performance).

Then, I put in Chris Marker's haunting sci-fi photo-montage film LA JETEE. Being a fan of TWELVE MONKEYS (though admittedly it has problems), I was very curious to see the French film from which it was adapted. Could see all the influences, but those startling photo images with that languid narration and the combination of simple sound effects and choir music, just made for a very memorable experience.

I watched a season 1 "Ghost Whisperer" last night entitled "On the Wings of a Dove" that was incredibly moving.

David Conrad, who plays Jennifer Love Hewitt's husband, has an accident while transporting a victim to hospital.  The victim dies, and his ghost attaches himself to the husband in order to get to Melina (Love Hewitt) whom he needs to help him get forgiveness from folks he'd seriously harmed.  All through the episode, Melinda's husband is as if possessed.  It's creepy because he's affected by the darkness of the ghost, making him moody, abrupt and disconnected with reality.

I then watched the video interviews of filmmaker Jean-Pierre Gorin as he talked about Marker and the film LA JETEE. Some of what he had to say was rather elusive and bordering on doubletalk, but there's no denying his reverence of Marker and LA JETEE in particular.

Tonight I'll watch the other film in the set - SANS SOLEIL, another I've not seen before.

I also watched an entertaining comedy called "Bedrooms and Hallways" starring Kevin McKidd, James Purefoy, Jennifer Ehle, and several other distinguished actors.  Had never heard of it until rummaging through Amazon.com to find other McKidd or Purefoy performances (both were INCREDIBLE in "Rome", season 1, and I wanted to see other things with them).

It's many things, but mostly it's a fantasia of young people identifying themselves in one way only to find themselves attracted to the opposite kinds of partners in various social situations.  Funny stuff, actually, and beautifully acted.

Tonight, I hope to see either "Colossus of Rhodes" or "Land of the Pharaohs".

Totally depends upon whether UPS FINALLY delivers this package or not.  I don't blame UPS, although UPS DID have it at their facility Tuesday evening.  I could have gotten it yesterday HAD THEY wanted to deliver it.

No, the real culprit is Amazon.com who shipped it "third day delivery" despite the fact that I am a charter member of Amazon Prime with guaranteed 2nd Day delivery on all items marked "Prime eligible" which the Cult Classics set is.

Dan (the Man)....I don't want to hear it.

Just read in VARIETY (and at Playbill-on-line) that COMPANY is being filmed and may be presented on a future GREAT PERFORMANCES telecast (a la THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA). This would be great to have that marvelous score captured ob video even if the production is non-traditional (which, I suspect, is one reason they were interested in filming it for broadcast).

It's good that there's nothing of interest coming out next week on DVD. It's a chance to save a little money and to get this mound of DVDs I have waiting for me watched.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I just decided to pop back up to the apartment since my audition session ended early(!) today.  -And I even had time to meet DR MusicGuy for a nice quick trip through Steinway Hall, and a late lunch at Bouchon in the Time-Warner Center.

As for DR MBarnum - Well.. When I last spoke to DR elmore he was still waiting for DR MBarnum to arrive on the train from the airport.  And he had already been waiting a while, so...  And DR Ginny and DH Richard should also be in be in by now too.

I hope.

I have a bit of writing to do before heading back down. I cleaned the bedroom areas this morning, so I don't have that to face. Will read a bit and then get back to some DVD viewing.

We disagree Again DR Ron.  I was given a copy of "Highways and Restrooms" and gave it away VERY QUICKLY after viewing it. Rubbish IMHO. Then I think "Big Eden" is a silly insipid piece of fim too.

Once again "Bear Cub" gets high praise from me.

TOD:
Ralph Fiennes in SCHINDLER'S LIST
Alan Rickman in CLOSETLAND
Robert DeNiro in THE UNTOUCHABLES
Anthony Hopkins in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS
Anthony Andrews as Murdstone in DAVID COPPERFIELD
Bill Pullman in THE GUILTY
Fiona Shaw as Mrs. Reed in JANE EYRE
Robert Mitchum in NIGHT OF THE HUNTER
Bette Davis in WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE
Small roles, but I always want to kill them: the scumbags in SHENANDOAH and GONE WITH THE WIND that attack the families while the men folks are off fighting the Civil War.
