DR MusicGuy - Thanks for the photo of the "old" house.  We'll be looking forward to shots of your new home when you're ready to share them!

The title of today's topic brings to mind that wonderful trunk song of Sondheim's from Anyone Can Whistle, "There's Always a Woman."

For you close harmony lovers, check out these Brasilian groups:

Quarteto em Cy (the first iteration of this group was all sisters, all of whose names started with "Cy", later they added some non-family members)
MPB4 (a kind of male version of QEC)

And for BK & other Astrud lovers:  get the Elenco (the great Bossa Nova label founded by Aloysio de Oliveira) release "The Astrud Gilberto Album," which is arranged by Mr. Jobim personally.

Man, I overslept (I needed it), but woke up just five minutes before Joan and Boswell arrived at my house, where we're doing the run-through.  I'm trying to be coherent - it's not working.  Oh, well - there's always tomorrow.

DR George:  I strongly suspect that our CD collections are almost mirror images of each other.

Just finishing my "homework", reviewing the plot details of the past 6 Potter novels.  The detailed summaries alone run to 40-50 pages per novel!  Once I speed through the new and final volume this weekend, so as to avoid spoilers, I may re-read the entire series at a more leisurely pace.

I've just finished listening to the HAIRSPRAY OST and the Milla Taking A Chance On Love CD has arrived at my desk.  I'm popping that into the ol' iPod-a-rooni next.

Has anyone else listened to HAIRSPARY yet?  With the exception of Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer, I like it a lot.

Today at Toyland, just before my colleague Tom Murray arrived, I was visited by a process server, giving me two copies of a legal document telling the Institute that we needed to appear in court next Thursday with our landlord to be evicted.  I faxed the document to our New York attorney and to our California office.  An hour later, I was notified that the new landlord had finally sent the lease for the new office to our attorney this morning, and it will go to California for  its final procedures.

Around an hour later, I was informed that our NY attorney has contacted the landlord's attorney about postponing the court date to August 3rd.  At this point, we either will move on Tuesday to a temporary storage space or stay put till July 31 and move to a new office.  Both sound positive, but I'm waiting for the lease and the payments to arrive.

And the word of the day is: RESIPISCENT!
Humbert took great pleasure in watching his NIECES STRIP and, being Humbert, there was no chance of his ever being RESIPISCENT.

I once had a fortune cookie that said :

" Do not worry about the world coming to an end - It is already tomorrow in Australia"

Unfortunatly I have misplaced it...
"... It is already tomorrow in Australia in bed."

Somehow, that doesn't quite work.   :-\

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Uptown/West Harlem in New York City!

:)

-The train ride up was nice and easy, and even though it was basically a sold out train, it didn't feel so crowded and crazy as sold  out trains can feel.  Due to some track traffic, the trip between Richmond and DC took about 30 minutes longer than scheduled, but they made up some of that delay by the time we reached Penn Station.  *It was the first time I had heard the announcement: "This train is authorized to travel at speeds up to 125 mile per hour."  -And I guess that's how they made up the time.

And now...
