After that, I put in THE AVIATOR on Blu-ray. Though the chronology is all messed up in dealing with the Hollywood section of the film regarding Hepburn and Hughes (and I still say Cate Blanchette, while sounding like and with the demeanor of Hepburn, isn't nearly as beautiful as Hepburn was in the 1930s), all of the parts of the film with Hughes as an aviator was priceless, commanding, riveting.
The two color looks for the film - the Kodacolor look of the first 50 minutes followed by the more natural but deeply saturated look of the rest - are beautifully captured on Blu-ray disc. Yes, it's more detailed and three dimensional than the SD-DVD, but only a half step up or so from it (rather like the improvement I saw in WYATT EARP from SD to HD).
