Did that book about Mario Brava from Video Watchdog ever get published?

I am wondering if any of our librarian DRs, particularly DR Ginny, have seen this book?

This is probably for Matt H, but anyone can answer this. I am thinking of getting a Blu Ray player, but my projection HD tv is older and does not have a HDMI input so I will have to use regular connections. Will I still get a good  hi def image from the player?

This has been one of those weeks when every evening I've had to get some food item ready to take with me the next day for an occassion.  Tuesday it was a veggies and dip tray for a potluck at work on Wednesday, Wednesday it was 18 Santa-face bags of caramel corn that I delivered this morning for a bake sale, and tonight I made shrimp spread to take with crackers for a party tomorrow after work at a coworker's home.  I'm exhausted, so...Goodnight!

The mall that had the collapsed parking deck is about five minutes from my house, one of the nicest malls in the city. What a catastrophe!

And I think that's the mall right next to the big hotel where SETC sometimes hold their regional convention.

Right now, you can get the same high def picture through component inputs as through HDMI (well, HDMI might be a tad sharper). However, all high def manufacturers have the ability to engage an "image restraint token" built into the disc that will down-resolve the image to 480p (anamorphic video quality only) for the component inputs if they so choose. The studios have all promised that this won't happen until at least 2010 so as not to punish those people who were early purchasers of HDTVs that didn't have the HDMI/DVI standard. They may never engage that token, but they do have the ability to do this if they wish.

Just be sure that the player you buy has the component jacks on the back. You can't get a high def picture without either component or HDMI/DVI connections.

I did watch NAKED BOYS SINGING tonight. I found it slight, simple, and occasionally sweet, nothing to get excited about certainly, but I was engaged somewhat by the material and the talent of some of the cast members.

My biggest disappointment was that even though the show was filmed during four live performances, the vocals were post-dubbed which gave a very artificial and "dead" quality to the show. Some of the voices were really mediocre (read screechy), too, but I did think a couple of the guys had real charisma and genuine talent (leaving aside the nudity.) (The guys who sang lead in the bris number and the "I Had the Radio On" song were my favorites.)

I started watching the "making of" bonus feature which had some shots of the auditions which I really enjoyed (would have liked more of those scenes to see all the choices they had to pick from). A lengthy phone call prevented me from finishing this segment. I'll finish it tomorrow.

Cold here, too, Ginny. A nippy 50F.  Brrrr  ;)

TOD: I guess it would have to be "Terms of Endearment," as that is the only Shirley McClain movie I can think of that I saw.

It will be -15 tomorrow morning and -24 on Saturday

UGLY BETTY had a pretty good outing tonight, but I found parts of it repetitive. How many times are Alexis and Daniel going to bicker over this leadership position? This is the second or third time THIS SEASON that Betty has expressed discontent with Henry's idea of fun only to realize later that she did much prefer it.

How can I complain, however, when the episode gave us generous glances at Henry's upper torso again? Magnificent!

GREY'S ANATOMY had really exciting cases this week but some very depressing personal stories.

And I do not find the actress they're pairing Patrick Dempsey with at all appealing.

LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT had an episode totally different from the norm for this show. They're going into dangerous waters with Bobby. I can't wait to see how it all resolves itself over the rest of the season (if we have one).

Tomorrow and Saturday will be tough. The prayer service and visitation is tomorrow and the funeral is saturday. The burial will be in the spring due to the cemetery having over a foot of snow.

How do they post-dub a live performance?  It makes no sense to me.
