My favorite moment (well, one of my favorites) watching the show in high definition was when the snake was hanging over the policeman's left shoulder, and the camera whirled around for us to see it. In HD, the snake felt like it was RIGHT in my face. Creepy!

Since your screen is roughly twice the size of mine, I can believe you because it was creepily large at 37 inches.

I don't think my friend Gregg is set to arrive until around 7 (he's going to call me from the highway once he gets closer to the city), so I'll be able to finish MURDER SHE WROTE's final two episodes and then move on to something else. I may rewatch a GREy'S ANATOMY or a BROTHERS & SISTERS from last season. Decisions, decisions . . . .

Are you sure you are related to them?

Good Afternoon!

It's snowing in New York City.  And it's very pretty.  -Well, at least when the sun was still out and you could see the snow falling.  ;)

I've been to some pretty nice restaurants in my day, but the BK (Burger King) croissant with egg and sausage is still quite the delicacy.

The menu after 11 a.m. is nothing great, but oh, that breakfast menu!  :)

And I've also noticed that no one really seems to go to that Burger King for breakfast - at least the few times I've met my parents there.  In fact, today, there breakfast was basically cooked to order - at least the pancakes were.  And since they were out of small and medium coffee cups, everyone was getting large coffees for the price of a small (or medium).

A little holiday cheer, Samba Soleil style:

http://jeffreykauffman.net/greensleeves.mp3

You would not believe the cool device our bass player recorded this with--it's something called a Zoom, IIRC--it was about the size and shape of an I-Phone, had 2 condenser mics built in (though you can attach real mics), and it stores up to 6 hours of MP3 recordings.  Amazing.

I <heart> Zooms!  As do a bunch of my friends.  I don't have one of my own - well, I just don't have the need for one - but it sure comes in handy for some composer and sound friends of mine.

In today's UPS delivery:

The Complete Calvin & Hobbes.

OOF....this box weighs about 40-60 pounds!  I am SO glad I get "prime" shipments via Amazon.

What else was in the box?

Tea? A nice bookmark?

Thank you, Ginny. Actually, we often include nice bookmarks when we give books. I'm quite fond of them, and since I often read several books concurrently, I make good use of them.

Just the "complete" "The Complete Calvin & Hobbes"!  The three-volume set is a boxed set.  And it's THAT set that weighs an awful lot.

Co-mingling sounds dangerous....or slightly naughty.

In other news...

My day of Mary Poppins auditions went well.  However, I will say, I was a bit caught off guard by how many production personnel were there: the resident director, the resident choreographer, the two dance captains, the music director/conductor, the music supervisor (the recently Emmy-nominated David Caddick), the casting director and myself.  However, it turned out the were casting one very-soon-to-be-open ensemble slot, and the "winner" would have to start rehearsals in January, and be ready to go on four weeks later.  And since it's a "swing" slot, said person must learn eight(!!!!!!!!) different tracks in those four weeks.

We saw some great people, and, as always, it was nice to see some old friends come into the room.  And top it all off, I was done at little after 1:00!  :)

Hmm... But 40-60 pounds?  I have that set, and I'd have to say it's just about 20 pounds.

*And I just checked Amazon - they list the shipping weight at 22 pounds.

Maybe you should have had a strength test done yesterday along with your bloodwork.  ;)

Beginning with last night:

Thank you DRs JRand, FJL, Jeanne, Jose, Jennifer, Cilla, & Singdaw .
I don’t know how long the healing will take now.  I couldn’t get a PT appointment until the 19th.  The doctor said I could take some time before beginning so it’s ok.

CONGRATULATIONS Ginny!

Edi, great come back!  I enjoyed the stories & photo.

Ron, congrats on your health report.

So...

Since I was done early, I decided to head up to Radio City to catch up with my parents when they got out of the Christmas Spectacular.  However, I did have some time to kill, so I went ahead and watched the skaters on The Pond at Bryant Park while sipping on a Bay Leaf infused Hot Chocolate from 'wichcraft.  :)

-I also tried to log on to the internet while I was at Bryant Park, but Bryant Park's free wireless service was not being cooperative.

In honor of BK's birthday tomorrow I must dig out my pointy hats and pantaloons (well, I'm wearing the warm ones because it's cold out) and those silly uncurling things. Now, WHERE did I put them??

I have a friend who's been giving me a chocolate assortment for Christmas the last couple years. I actually asked if he could go back to the book gift card this year. I've eaten waaayyy too much chocolate!

So...

Once I got up to Radio City, I waited across the street until the show got out.  Once I noticed people coming out of the doors, I called my parents' cell phone.  No answer.  Then a few minutes later, I called again.  Then a few more minutes later, the same.  Well... I then remembered that they were going to try to meet up with some family friends who were coming up to the 4:00 show this afternoon - my parents went to the 1:00 show - and that they were going to try to meet up in the lobby of NBC.  So, I headed over there.  And looked... And looked.  Then I recalled that they were also going to try to have lunch at the Carnegie Deli, so I headed over there.  And I called them again too.  Still no answer.

Just as I had finished looking in the very(!) crowded Carnegie Deli, my Dad called me - it was already about 3:15.  And they were already back at Port Authority.  They had hoped to take the 3:00 bus back to Atlantic City, but they just missed it, so they were in line for the 3:30 train.

Hi, Mom and Dad!  Bye, Mom and Dad!

In any case... They said they had great seats, and that they really enjoyed the show.  And, of course, my Mom then asked me if I could get another set of house seats for a friend of hers.  For tomorrow.  Na gonna happen.

Just for the record: I don't expect to eliminate chocolate from my diet altogether, just cut back significantly.
