DR singdaw - Do you have a choice of fonts on the Kindle?  Or do the book's original fonts get downloaded with the text too?

DR JoseSPiano - no, just one font in [I think] six different sizes.  I can't remember the name of it, but I think they selected it for maximum clarity on the screen.  I can easily read the smallest font, and it minimizes page turns.  So everything that is converted into a "Kindle" edition is converted into that font.   Reading the NY Times, they do use a slightly larger font size for Section and Article headings.

In today's UPS delivery:

The Complete Calvin & Hobbes.

OOF....this box weighs about 40-60 pounds!  I am SO glad I get "prime" shipments via Amazon.

I bought this for my sister last year from Costco, so there was no shipping charge, at all. :)

DRLaura, Thanks for the wishes, but no birthday cake.  I saved some Baskin Robins chocolate ice cream & Bryan sent a Challah for Chanukah. :)  And I just had a piece of See's candy.

I have a sense of deja vu.

;)

So did I.

So did I.

But it was good seeing them today.  Although, my Mom almost had Security called on her when she stopped by the GMA window/studio.  She noticed that people were in there getting their pictures taken with Diane Sawyer.  I told her that GMA has an audience, but you have to arrange for the tickets in advance.  Well, after trying to sweet talk the Security guard into letting her in the studio area to have her picture taken with Diane Sawyer - even though she was not part of this morning's taping - she called me over to take a picture of her with Diane Sawyer standing in the background...  Excuse me, ma'am, you need to stay in front of the line....  Ma'am, you are not allowed into this area....  PLEASE move away from this area now.  NOW.

-And that's when I gently guided her back onto the sidewalk.

Whew!

My DH has a conference in San Diego next week.  I'm tagging along.  We fly out of JFK, weather permitting, Sunday evening.

Short sleeve shirts, here I come!

Grocery gaffe: hams for Hanukkah
NEW YORK[/b] - A luxury grocery store in Manhattan made a food faux pas, advertising hams as "Delicious for Chanukah."

She issued an apology on the company Web site, saying the company would be reviewing its employee training.

MBarnum, you find such great cards.  Thank you.

George, I like your new faucet.  I’m partial to the style that old fashioned style.

Ron, enjoy your vacation, after a successful root canal-ouch.

Hi folks!

I couldn’t let the day go by without wishing our Dear Jane a most happy of happy birthdays.

I’ll also sending vibes to Dakota Celt.  You are very much in my thoughts.

Thank you DR Ginny for the lovely card.

I’m still in the battle.  I’m not sure if I’m wining but we’ll have to see what the doctor says on Monday.

I had to battle the short term disability folks today.  It seems they closed my case and I won’t be getting another check even though I faxed them my fitness for duty report on Monday!  They said it wasn’t good enough.  I called the doctors office but he had already left for the day so I can’t get anything taken care of until this coming Monday.

It’s been horrible being here at home alone and not even being able to use the computer but I’ve done everything the doctor has said I must do to get well.

All in all I am not the least bit sorry for undergoing the surgery.  This was not done for vanities sake but for my back and I am already reaping the benefit in that regard.  My back feels so much better.  Once I am healed and everything goes back to normal, it will be the best thing I have ever done for myself.

DR Ben and DP Ant, I’m glad you got a chuckle out of the Christmas card.  I thought it was the best card I’ve sent since I had the one about the 4th Wise man who came bearing Fruit Cake.

I’ve got a few back in the mail—Cillaliz and George.  I guess I didn’t have your correct address.  I’m sorry.

I also wanted to tell you all the Christmas song I dislike the most is “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer.”  Ugh.

Well, I’d better go.  Have a wonderful evening everyone!   :)

My, what a busy day I’m having!  I was a whirlwind of energy this morning & rather productive around the house.  I

Sherlock gave me a very cute card, mouth delivered.  He still doesn’t have the hang of letting me take something from him & just dropped it at my feet.

I read all my email birthday wishes, which I have not had time to respond to, and then the phone began ringing, and ringing, etc.  I couldn’t head out with Sherlock for a hike until after 12:00.  By then it had stopped raining. :)

I returned home and the phone rang again, and then again.  And once again while I was catching up on the posts and wonderful birthday greetings.  :D

Thank you Danise.

That was the song I was trying to remember yesterday-horrid song.  So far I have not heard it this year.

Before the phone rings again I’m going to get out of my hiking clothes and into something more attractive.  Maybe I can also do something about the bad hair day I’m having. ;D

I agree with you on that song, Danise.

And I hope you feel better soon! And that the chinchy bassas come to their senses.

I'm all for fun (I think my Christmas card proved that) but not singing about someone being killed on Christmas and having part of the song being about "should we return her presents or not".  Not funny in my book.

Now one of my favorite humor Christmas songs is the "Twelve PAINS of Christmas".

"Shut up, you"
"Fine! Your so smart, YOU put up the lights!"

And who could forget "Hangovers", "Making dinner for the in laws", "She's a witch, I hate her".   "BUY ME SOMETHING!"  :) Too funny!
