DR VIXMOM re: the VIXTER seeing SWEENEY TODD.

I think each person is different. I know my mom looked away during the violence (she found it overly graphic).

I personally do not like violence at all, and agree with DR Jose. I found that they made things so over the top, that i did not find it horrific in the least.

The blood was so bright. Everything was so fake. I did not look away once.

If the Vixter loves musicals (which she does) then i think this is a movie she should see.  Although like DR MattH said, if she has not seen it until now, she can probably wait for the dvd.

I would also see if you could view a few clips online, just so you get a sense of what the movie is like.  It's hard for us to explain it.  I personally found the tone so grim and dismal.  But i don't think it is too much for most teens.

Good morning.  I think.

I had another computer crash yeaterday - and all my emails got deleted.  AGAIN.
So I spent much of the day and night with email recovery software I bought.  And did manage to get some stuff back.  But not everything.  And some of it was "recovered,"  but without the sender name, subject line, or date sent, so I have a large mass of emails that are unidentified.  Ugh!

I think I need a new computer.

I just learned that PLAN X FROM OUTER SPACE actress VAMPIRA (aka Maila Nurmi) has died.

Her other film credits include TOO MUCH, TOO SOON, THE MAGIC SWORD, THE BEAT GENERATION, I PASSED FOR WHITE, and SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE and of course she was a TV horror film host in the 1950s, and before that, a model.

I met her during one of my first trips to Los Angeles at the Ray Courts Show.

Here you can see her in her most famous film role....

I seem to remember BEAUTY AND THE BEAST getting terrible reviews by the NY critics, too. They all cried THEME-PARK! It may well have been, but I found it an enchanting evening in the theater, and I know if I had seen it as a child, I would have been overwhelmed by all the song, dance, and magic.

Undoubtedly, THE LITTLE MERMAID won't have the run that BEAUTY AND THE BEAST had (how many shows will?), but I'd be willing to buy a ticket to see it.

I don't think the critic's reviews of Little Mermaid, to the extent that they've been fairly negative, reflects the majority opinion of the audience seeing the show.  At least not at the performances I've been at.  I think there are just some shows that some critics are pre-determined not to like, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy for them.

But Little Mermaid is one of the very few shows on Broadway right now that you can take a single digit age child to, and for this reason, I think it's pretty critic proof.  And the bad reviews probably mean the audience won't go in with over-hyped expectations, and so the parents might end up liking it better than they thought they would.

Well, MattH may disagree, but I say "a" not "an" based on the sound of the word.

der Brucer

After all we say "a uniform" and "a one legged man"

Good morning. I must run some errands. Seems my savings account hasn't had enough money put in lately, and the State wants to take it away.
