time for a Bollywood movie, I think...today's film is a Meena Kumari vehicle, and a "light, romantic, fun film" (although you wouldn't know from the dvd cover!)...AKELI MAT JAIYO (1963) also starring Rajendra Kumar, Agha, and Minoo Mumtaz.

Well, well...how about a Kum Kum (with Dilip Kumar on strings) page 4 dance!

Good News for bk: Karma attacks cell phone users:

THE INDEPENDENT

Quote
Mobile phone radiation wrecks your sleep

Phone makers' own scientists discover that bedtime use can lead to headaches, confusion and depression
Radiation from mobile phones delays and reduces sleep, and causes headaches and confusion, according to a new study.

The research, sponsored by the mobile phone companies themselves, shows that using the handsets before bed causes people to take longer to reach the deeper stages of sleep and to spend less time in them, interfering with the body's ability to repair damage suffered during the day.

The findings are especially alarming for children and teenagers, most of whom – surveys suggest – use their phones late at night and who especially need sleep. Their failure to get enough can lead to mood and personality changes, ADHD-like symptoms, depression, lack of concentration and poor academic performance.

I love Eva Marie Saint!  I like EXODUS.

I love the opera CARMEN!  I don't like CARMEN JONES.  I think the cast is wonderful, I like the way it is filmed, but I dislike Mr. Hammerstein's lyrics.

Somebody may need to go to Atlanta and chip Amy and Greg out of bed - my TV screen said "Atlanta - 18° "

Here in Rehoboth we have a sunny 24° with the breezes making the wind chill factor 11°!

It is currently 37 degrees in Tacoma, but it isn't even noon yet.

This afternoon, I'll be finishing up with the bonus features on the CLEO from 5 TO 7 DVD and then head on into the next Varda film LE BONHEUR. It, too, has a long list of bonus features on the disc.

LE BONHEUR.  Is that based on that Charlton Heston chariot movie?

Talent seems to run in your family DR Edisaurus!

I only wish I could have played or sung so well at that age...or any age! I probably never would have discovered editing though, so...

Actually, my cousin plans to go to school to study graphics and multimedia. But I bet he will be involved in music in some way, too.

i have to say, as well, that the timing for this megillah is perfect: I'm between jobs other than this one at Toyland, and I know there's work coming in. Ron Raines has a request, and Karen Masn just called me about 7 or 8 charts. We're meeting on Jan 29 about it when she returns from a gig in Arizona(?).  I've got to put together the rental package for "The Brain From Planet X" for Rodgers & Hammerstein, and I'm grateful that BK has been too busy with other things to send it last week.

So, it's a necessary apartment cleaning and weeding and the timing's just right.  I just wish it hadn't been caused by vermin.

I thank you all for your sympathy over the situation, but I do wish you'd all fly in and lend me a hand!

elmore, if I could afford it, I would have been there yesterday!

People are waking dogs and children, not necessarily in that order.

And did they wake you, too?

Due to the raves here, and also my sister's, we picked up the HD-DVD of Heroes Season 1 and began watching it last night.  Not quite up to Lost levels (we're only part way through Episode 2, though), but very enjoyable.  Love Hiro.

Jeffrey, I think you will start to get hooked at about Episode 4.

Do you know if he take voice lessons?

His mom tells me:
Jonathan is only 16, a junior in High School. He takes both voice and piano lessons with local ladies here in Cleveland. He does both read music and play by ear. It took a long time for his teachers to get his reading skill up to the level of his "playing by ear skill."

Yesterday I saw Juno, Away From Her and La Vie en Rose.  If the snow holds off I may go to Atonement.  I'm just not looking forward to it, so I may put it off and see in on Netflix in the future

OK---so I know I'm in a room full of music lovers and critics, but I have to share this video. It's horribly shot, but it's my cousin's son (15 years old) singing and playing piano at a school talent show. He also writes piano music; he's done some great original rags in the style of Scott Joplin.

I think he's incredibly talented!

He's good! :)

AOL ranks the WORLD'S FRIENDLIEST COUNTRIES

•   Number 1 -- Ireland

Ireland was chosen by Lonely Planet as the World's Friendliest Country. Ireland's history is based on people working, prospering, socializing, and sometimes fighting together. Tourists can witness it firsthand by watching events like the Galway Arts Festival, complete with street performers, comedy acts and visual arts. Based on the country's falling crime rates, the people of Ireland would rather cozy up at the pub than inflict pain on visitors. In a place that has had its own share of tough times, the people have found comfort through socializing and welcoming newcomers.

I'm off to watch some TV.  I have (still) several episodes of "Reaper" to watch, and we'll see what happens after that.

Have a good day, all. :)

I also read in the paper today of the death of wonderful character actor Allan Melvin. He must have guest starred in hundreds of TV episodes, and, of course, was a regular on Phil Silers' show. Always thought he was great.
