.

I think most people regard REDHEAD as a star vehicle for Gwen Verdon and without her, no show. (It's among the weakest Best Musical winners ever, at least based on the cast recording.) Most people also regard APPLAUSE as having rather weak material for a revival. Perhaps if a BIG STAR wanted to do it, they could mount a revival around the star, but it would take a big star.

Please don't mention this to Patti!

Well, that explains it.  The guy was way too old for Uggums role.

Robert Vaughn and Barbara Rush are indeed fine reasons to watch THE YOUNG PHILADELPHIANS......although I think I was distracted once wondering why some of the men were wearing white dinner jackets to an evening black tie party.....

They must have been among those "young Philadelphians" around whom the movie revolved...the rebels, the punks, the brash young things....or, possibly, one or two "how-you-says"!

That....or they wish to prevent Jason Alexander (or Matthew Broderick) from taking the role of Albert Peterson.

Do stay on top of this, der Brucer.

In the United States and Canada white dinner jackets (as with most of white summer clothing, like all-white loafers, all-white seersucker, etc.) may be worn from only Memorial Day through to Labor Day.

Here in Arizona, we wear white in the summer -- which is April until November.

The rain finally arrived, though it's a gentle rain, not a monsoon like we had last week (almost 2 inches).

You missed your chance to say "a Luiz Bonfa" reference.

At the time Nell Carter passed away, she was set to star in a production of the musical RAISIN, and there was much talk then that the production would have a future if it were successful - but of course, it was contingent on her name being attached as star.

I am certainly not saying anything negative about Nell Carter's talent.  Anyone who saw her in AIN'T MISBEHAVIN knows what a dynamic performer she was onstage.  However, I don't believe that just because Nell was black, that she would have been a perfect choice for RAISIN.  Also there was a lot of talk in the last years of her life about her diva complex that required no direction.  You would have needed a strong director to reign her in for that show.

I've written the lawyer a long e-mail explaining my feelings.  It's obvious we're not having our conversation today (he's been in a meeting), but I'm hoping we have it in the morning.
