By the way, Star Trek: Enterprise will be moving to Fridays this fall.  I think that's a great idea.  Sci-Fi geeks will watch a lot of stuff, but it's foolish to have it scheduled opposite another SF show.

Lamb Chop's Play Along!

Before I read the rest of the posts, I must respond to this...
(Before I do THAT - it's nice to be off the spawn of the devil hook!)

To my point - Do not - I repeat - DO NOT - get us singing Lamb Chop's "The song that never ends..."
My Dear Daughter was a regular on that show for a season when she was 8 or 9 - and I heard that song a LOT. And I NEVER want to hear it again.
This is the song that never ends.
It just goes on and on my friends.
Somebody started singing it not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because
this is the song that never ends.
It just goes on and on my friends.
Somebody started singing it not knowing what it was
And they'll continue singing it forever just because
this is the song that never ends.
It just goes on and on my friends....

Of course the big question in every episode of Enterprise is, "What excuse will they find this week to show Connor in his blue underwear?"

I wish it had been last night (the season finale)! ;) You'd think that they would want to celebrate the completion of their mission...except for what happened in that last scene! :o

Robin - I like THE SILENT PARTNER, too. Except for the extremely gory offing of one of the leading characters. This person (I don't want to be a spoiler) was in a movie I later did for the CBC. It was a cursed production - one of the bit players, a very sweet young woman, was murdered during the shoot; there was a strike mid-shoot, so we had to "adjourn" for some months; film was lost by a messenger on the way to the lab, etc. I blame it all on the bad vibes from that gory scene in SILENT PARTNER.

Here, as promised several days ago, is another George Eads picture from the CSI daily calendar. Please bear with the image. I've just installed a new scanner, and this is my first attempt at using it. If the picture is too small or too large, I'll try again.

And, of course, my answer is, "Any excuse is fine with me."

Moving it away from SMALLVILLE was definitely a good idea, but I'm not sure Friday is the answer. The wonderful FIREFLY, another sci-fi adventure, died a miserable death on Friday.

Good Afternoon!

Well, I slept in until about 11:00, and since I had a matinee at 1:00.. So...

"Home" between shows... I should have napped.. I guess.. In any case...

I'm a big fan of marzipan.  I usually stock up around Christmas time.  The World Market stores carry some pretty good stuff and pretty good prices.  Although I like the "plain", some of the flavored ones are quite good.  I've become a fan of the armagnac ones.  -And chocolate-covered pineapple ones.

And a few weeks ago, the french horn player brought in little boxes of "Mozart" chocolates for everyone.  Soooo good.. and they have marzipan in them!

Topic of the day:  I'll have to think some more about this one...  The only title that comes to my mind is "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World" - and that's kind of stretching it.  -And was that enough "Mad's"?

Well, maybe I can sneak in a few winks before heading back in...

Hmmm...

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
Without you by my side
But then I spent so many nights
Just thinking how you did me wrong
And I grew strong
And I learned how to get along

And now you're back
From outer space...

I want to put an interesting topic on the table, then must get back to work... Just read that Gwyneth Paltrow is going to play Marlene Dietrich in a biopic. In the article it said that Louis Malle was developing a Dietrich bio to star Uma Thurman. That project died with Malle, (John Guare was to have written it.) So - who do you think would make a better screen Dietrich -- Gwyneth or Una (or someone else of your choice)? And - do you think it's possible to portray someone as iconic? (AND how can you possibly take it seriously and not think of Madeline Kahn as you watch?)

Jose - First I was afraid/I was petrified... You're wicked!
But I forgive you because now I'm thinking of Mozart chocolates which I used to love as a kid. Yum.

I am not familiar enough with either Gwyneth or Uma to judge which one would be better as Deitrich.

I do know that former pin-up queen and star of JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET Greta Thyssen played Deitrich on stage in New York just a few years ago...that I would have loved to have seen!

If they have to go with a "name" as the star, I'd go with Uma.  Gwyneth seems (and it's just my perception) to be too "sweet."  I don't know if she could really have an edge that Dietrich seemed to have (to me).

I have a concert video, Ute Lemper's "Illusions" (filmed, but with an audience) that's a tribute to Edith Piaf and Marlene Dietrich.  She was wonderful and could do the back-of-the-throat rolling Rs that Gwyneth might not be able to do.

Opening night photos are now up on Juliana's Journal.  If one of our tech-oriented folks could make them the right size and repost or resend to me, I'll fix it.  It's in Panavision now.

Serves me right. Can't get the Pitney song out of my head.
"When you're young and so and love as we
And bewildered by the world we see"

Bewilderment is a common state for us seniors. I don't think it is for the young at all.

Hybrid of DR Charles' and DRs Jose's&Panni's recent posts.

My friend Eva's parents (they're Czech) keep Mozart chocolates in their guest bathroom.

And what do you eat/drink in the can?

My bathroom is possibly the tiniest bathroom in all of the northwest so it would be impossible to store any reading materials or munch on any foodstuffs in that room.

Great Juliana opening night pics! The shoe photo would be the cat's meow for that foot fetishists movie site I accidentally found a few weeks ago.
(Try saying "foot fetishists" out loud. It's not easy.)

I second Dear Reader George's choice... I was thinking about Ute Lemper BEFORE reading his post AND she would be good... evn more since she thinks she's Dietrich reincarnated!

I would not mind playing Jean (John, to you) Gabin!
