Well, excuse me for having to disagree and perhaps even bitch-slap, but aren't we leaving out someone very important, like Mr. Harvey Schmidt (and partner Tom Jones)?  I just got off the phone with him, as a matter of fact, and we were discussing Classical Broadway and how much fun it was to do.  I haven't heard it in close to twelve years - I'll have to give it a listen.

I didn't include Mr. Schmidt or Mr. Bock because I felt that they did not have the output of shows that the others did.

Each only really had three or four shows to the credit.

Mr. Bock: Fiorello!, She Loves Me, Fiddler on the Roof, The Rothschilds (Others less memorable: Mr. Wonderful, Body Beautiful, Tenderloin, Man in the Moon, The Apple Tree)

Mr. Schmidt (Who is also a wonderful artist) The Fantasticks, 110 In the Shade, I Do! I Do! Their first three shows were in within a six year period and then nothing successful after that Philomen, Colette, Celebration, Our Town.

Cy Coleman had 10 pretty good shows over a 17 year period (some closed on the road). Kander 13 shows over a 15 year period with a couple that closed out of town, Sondheim had about 21 shows over a 45 year period.

François thank you for the Vera-Ellen link.  I always enjoyed her.  It is sad her reality wasn’t as sweet as her movies.

Jose I think Keith wanted to hang something like that from the ceiling.  All I can say is thank g_d he didn’t.  Honestly I don’t care what he has as long as I can shut it off. My biggest concern is the main shower head will be up too high for me and hit the top of my head instead of my shoulders and neck where I prefer it. I had to ask Keith how many things we have coming out of the walls to spray us.  He said a total of six.  Two shower heads, one on each side of the shower.  One of these will be on a sliding bar and is removable for easy cleaning of the shower.  The other four are coming out of the sides of the shower.  Where exactly they are located I will find out when the shower is complete.

Danise this may be more information than you want.

Check out the Joyva, the most popular brand of halvah, site. http://www.halvah.biz/

Halvah is a Turkish confection. It is one of the worlds oldest candies. The earliest references to halvah date as far back as the year 3000 B.C. The word halvah means literally 'sweetmeat'.
Ingredients include tahini and sugar. Tahini is created by grinding sesame seeds into a smooth creamy butter. Sesame seeds are rich in calcium, zinc, iron, phosphorous, protein, niacin and lecithin and many B complex vitamins.
Halvah contains three basic nutrients; protein and vegetable fat from tahini and carbohydrates from sugar. Halvah provides protein and calories, making it an excellent choice for the beginning of the day or for a backpacking energy source.

Halvah varieties include
• Plain (vanilla) without flavoring is the purist form.
• Plain halvah flavored with chocolate.
• Plain halvah and chocolate halvah create marble halvah.
• Plain halvah bars covered in chocolate.
• Plain halvah bars covered in chocolate and rolled in almonds.
• Plain, marble or chocolate halvah with the addition of mixed nuts.
• Plain halvah with the addition of pistachio nuts.

Hey Jane,

Thank you for the link!  Once I saw what it looked like, it seemed more familar.  I don't think I have had it but have seen it.

On another note, the page with the sesame seed/honey bars was VERY familar.  I buy them all the time at the health food store.   :D  I LOVE them!

I, too, lost a post tonight.  And it was my own fault.
It was something inspired by listening to Lost In Boston III:
Two songs cut from Gypsy, Mama's Talking Soft, and Nice She Ain't both describe Mama Rose's behavior.  But, when you see Gypsy, Mama Rose's behavior is already vividly depicted.  Therefore, it was not necessary for these supporting characters to tell us about the star of the show.

I continue to believe that if Inside My Head had remained in 110 in the Shade, it would be about 110 times better than it is.  The song gives us a reason to root for File.  I've actually seen people, disgusted, shaking their heads at the show's ending.

Hello, all! Been working my buns off all day and now must grab a bite before I fall down. What's nice about my new home environment is that I don't have to get in the car to do this. (By next week, I won't even have to go out to do this - but right now the kitchen is not quite ready for cooking.)
As for progress... The living room is almost done as is the bathroom. I worked all day with the terrific handyman whose motto is "No problem!" (I also had a phone meeting re a wonderful gig which I'm hoping to get.)  Haven't read all the posts, but among the ones I HAVE read are some lovely tributes to Cy Coleman.

Nice to hear that the new home environment is coming along like you want it to, Panni!

Good luck with the new gig as well.

I hate to say it but it is getting to be that time.  My pillow is calling to me and I can't resist it's Sirens song.

Have a good evening all!

Why?  What was their show about tonight?

Well, I guess it was more the style and tone of the pieces rather than the content.  The topics covered on tonight's program:

-Cheating in college.  Cheating that is on papers, tests, etc.  And they focused on one particular young woman who wrote papers and took test for one of the Wal-Mart heiresses.

-A story about identical twin girls.  One of them "grew up" to be a boy/man.  Actually quite an interesting story.

-Why would Beyonce go back to being part of a group (Destiny's Child)?  Do we really care?!?!?  -And, besides, if they had been following the news when the group "broke up", they would have known the break was planned, and the "reunion" was planned too.  Don't they read Entertainment Weekly? ;)

So... The opening and closing stories just had that air of sensationalism to them.  But I guess if that's what they need to do to attract viewers.  I had also forgotten that both Hugh Downs and Barbara Walters are no longer hosting the show either.  However, they previewed next Friday's feature story which is an interview with the young men who murdered Matthew Shepard... and how it may not have been a hate crime.  -Actually, my stomach started to turn when they started hinting at the possible - but not yet revealed - new motive(s)...

CD - Clay Aiken: MERRY CHRISTMAS WITH LOVE

DVD - FRIENDS - Season 8, Disc 3

DVR - last night's JOEY and WILL & GRACE

Again Noel and I have a big difference of opinion. THough I respect his work to the utmost and SHE LOVES ME remains one of my all-time favorite musicals, Jerry Bock is my least favorite of the composers of his generation. That isn't saying he isn't talented or that he hasn't written some terrific musicals, just personal preference that I'd rather listen to the music of Sondheim, Kander, Strouse, Schmidt, Herman, Styne, and Coleman than that of Bock.

OH!!!...

Something that made me do a double- even triple-take as I was checking out at the grocery store earlier today... Sometimes they put books for sale next to the candy and magazines.  Well, today, I noticed they had the new Allan Gurganus ("Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All") paperback on display.  Well, this is what the sale sign I saw looked like:

White People
