Hey, what did you LOST junkies think of last night's show?

I really liked it, especially the back story.  Made me cry.

And I loved the ending!

I am physically at work today (having stayed home yesterday in profound misery from what MAY be severe allergies rather than a cold).

At any rate, I am here, minding my own business, but my soul is screaming out the eterneal WHY????

Snow rain and sleet today.  Scary.

Cream horns - but they are so rich and sugary....it is easy for me to overdose on those!

I have somehow gotten over 6100 posts!  Whew!

I have been watching PROJECT RUNWAY - on BRAVO which is a crazy silly show about designers....some of whom can't design.

Hmmm... Cream Horns...  The French bakery a few blocks from my apartment in Richmond has very good ones.  And to gild the proverbial lily, they dip the ends of their in chocolate.

Several very "exciting" things have happened today. Here they are.

1. My English class read some classical poetry. Here is an exerpt:

"Tell me, Corydon, is the old man still screwing that little girl he fancied, the dark-eyed one?

"The same as ever. It was only yesterday down by the byre that I caught him on the job."

2. I ate a very yummy sandwich from the deli across the street, along with a 49-cent Cherry Coke from the Quickie Mart.

3. A garbage can outside the library caught fire and a fire truck drove up and a fire-fighter sprayed water into said garbage can.

And those are the headlines.

And my favorite pastry recipe:

1. Drive to Krispy Kreme.

2. Order a chocolate iced cream-filled doughnut.

3. Eat it.

Very complicated, I know, but it's worth all the hard work.

Thank you, DRvixmom.  I suspect the worst on Monday when I see the surgeon, but you never know.

I must say all this inauguration crap today is getting me down!  And while I'm ranting,  has anyone else besides me thought the Trump wedding gown, touted as being mucho expensive, is godawful ugly?

[move=left,scroll,6,transparent,100%]~~~HEALTHY VIBES FOR DR OZDEREK!!~~~[/move]

Hmmmmmmmm in Indiana....what we call a bismarck is a solid donut type object with white icing and crushed nuts on top.

What I've always called a bismark is custard filled (no hole) donut with chocolate icing on top.  It might be a west coast thing.  The bismark (or Bismark) is my favorite donut (I know it's not technically a "pastry").  Otherwise, I love just about anything pastry-like except anything with raisins and sometimes raspberries. :P And chocolate is ALWAYS good! ;D

I only caught a glimpse of the Inauguration festivities earlier... When they were showing them all sitting down for lunch.  Hmm...

-I'm just hoping that the traffic will indeed stay light this afternoon and evening so that I can drive into the show without too much hassle.

Tomorrow, both ARE WE THERE YET (filmed in Portland, Orygun), and BEYOND THE SEA open here.

Also just noticed that Peter Cincotti is in BEYOND THE SEA.

I want to see one of them this weekend...but can't decide which one.

Peter Cincotti is going to play here in Olympia tomorrow night.  It's the Washington Center for the Performing Arts' CenterFest.  I'm going to usher for it so I get to see him for free!  Is he any good?  I've never heard any recordings of his.

Jose I just forwarded to your email the original email about this show that I received today, I couldn't figure out how to import  it to this list

DRvixmom, I meant to congratulate you on your new status at HHW.  So this show JOY is really a musical of THE JOY OF GAY SEX?  Didn't my friend Lisa Shriver choreograph THE JOY OF SEX last year?  Or was it EVERYTHING YOU NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX . . .?  Or was it something else?

On a sideline, I'm reading a very funny novel right now, Mark Acito's HOW I PAID FOR COLLEGE, as a sideline to THE KITE RUNNER, a beautful but painful book I was given by a beautiful lady who has my heart.

OK... Time to do some more research on selling stuff on E-Bay...

*If any DRs are regular E-bay sellers, I'd love to look at what your listings look like.  Some of them just look sooo fancy nowadays.

**Oh, and as for bidding programs...  Did E-bay discontinue that bidding process where you could set your limit but it would only increase your bid accordingly if needed?  I mean, if you know who much you're willing to spend, do you really need a bidding program?  Or is it that you really don't have a "price ceiling"? ;)

I think I figured out why I love ALW's "The Woman in White" as much as I do.  He seems to have written it in the same musical style as "Aspects of Love" and is orchestrated in the same way, and I have a HUGE passion for "Aspects of Love".  Just thought I'd share :)

I don't love Aspects of Love but there are parts that I really like.  I just got the original cast recording (from England) of The Woman in White yesterday!  Hopefully, I'll get a chance to listen to it sometime soon.

DRSandra, who's the poet?  From Corydon, I'd guess it's Greek, but it has that special Juvenal sneer.

DRGeorge, I think it's a pretty good adaptation of an interesting play with music.  My friend Simon Jones is in it, as is Denis Quilley who recently died.

DR Elmore, that particular literary gem is by the ancient Greek poet Theocritus. It's from the fourth of his Idylls, which my translation calls "The Herdsmen," but my teacher and the rest of my classmates have a different translation that calls it something else. (I just had to be different...)

Oh my gosh, DR Elmore, I haven't laughed out loud as much at a book in lord knows how long.  Read it on the plane going to Calif. a couple of weeks ago, and can't wait to reread it.
