Well, "Trading Spaces" sort of fessed up when they had that special a few months ago that covered the filming of the New York City episode. Segments are filmed out of order. Those "impromptu" Paige drop-ins are not all that impromptu, and sometimes they're even re-filmed if there's a glitch, technical or otherwise.

And even though it was not said outright, the whole time limit, times up scenario is so that the production crew has time to film the finished rooms and do the pre-reveal interviews. And there have been some unfinished rooms - projects dropped, painting "adjusted", stuff just thrown into a bin or covered up with some curtains, etc...

It's best not to analyze, and just be entertained.

I like Paige. Not sure if I'll miss her or not.

Now, if you wanna talk about Evan Farmer and Jason Cameron on "While You Were Out", well, that would be a totally different story.

I don't think that the people on While You Were Out can possibly believe that out of nowhere a camera crew appears to follow them around. If that isn't staged I don't know what is.

The Temptress on TCM, January 24, 2005
As Grand Prize winner in the 2004 Turner Classic Movies Young FIlm Composers Competition, Michael Picton was given the opportunity to compose a new score to the 1926 Greta Garbo classic The Temptress. The Temptress will receive its broadcast premiere with Michael Picton's new score on January 24, 2005 at 8:30pm ET / 5:30pm PT on the Turner Classic Movies network. The film will be preceded and followed by the documentary Settling the Score (Jan.24, 8pm ET/5pm PT and 10:30pm ET/7:30pm PT) which introduces the five finalists as they compose their submissions for the final round of the YFCC and then follows the winner, Michael Picton, as he composes and records his new score to The Temptress. The Temptress will be rebroadcast Jan.30 at 12am ET/9pm PT.

And I am looking forward to THE TEMPTRESS.....I made a mental note when you mentioned it last week, DRPANNI. And the promos look very interesting. I am not certain that some of the past winners were that good at scoring a MOVIE.....a couple of them have been repetitive and dreary - but hopefully this one will work!

YES! DR RON - I mentioned Project Runway last week....Wednesday nights on BRAVO. I am rooting for Kara Saun and would have hoped that Wendy would have been sent packing last week - but there you are....yes talk about dripping with drama (a Petula Clark reference).....

Anxiously awaiting thoughts on THE PRISONER OF SECOND AVENUE. I played the part in 1998 or so and I loved it.

Last night on one of the endless shows.....Mr Merv Griffin said that at an NBC affiliates meeting in NYC a few months before the deed - Mr Johnny Carson had asked the executives not to do or say something....they did....and when he was introduced, he proceeded to announce his retirement would take place the following May.

I seem to remember this story or a similar one being talked about at the time, but I had forgotten it. Wonder if that executive is now producing reality shows.....or retired to an island without a television set?

It does, IMHO! (And that's not because I knew the composer when he was a freckle-faced tyke.) And it's a perfect movie to score because it's full of music in the story itself.

My 2 appointments today were for a haircut (I'm developing a new "look" - the old one just wasn't working) and an eye exam. Came home from the latter with my eyes so dilated I had to lie down. That was several hours ago and I'm just now beginning to be able to see.

DR JRand54: I really do like Kara Saun, but I get SUCH a kick out of Austin Scarlett and Jay that I want them to continue on as long as possible.

I thought I was going to get a hernia laughing at Jay trashing Austin as they schmoozed that fashion writer...Jay accusing Austin of being a phony and "whoring" to win over the writer (it WORKED!) and Jay claiming he (in all his "humility," of course) was simply being himself while Austin WASN'T being himself (which he was...MORE than we normally see, I'm betting).

The judges eliminating that girl for saying she "based" her design on a couple of other designers' swimsuits (inspired by, but not COPYING), was a bit of crap, IMO. They LOVED Jay's suit and the one who chastised the woman for admitting to having been inspired by another design stated she loved Jay's suit because it reminded her of another designer.

What the heck is that all about?

Wendy is probably a very nice person. But she has been out of her element more than once, and I think she should consider sticking to what she knows and stop trashing those who outshine her...cause they ALL DO THAT.

More "modern" - I'd like to have seen Tennessee Williams up close and personal at work - not to mention Kazan - so maybe STREETCAR (the young Brando would be a bonus with that one).
PRIVATE LIVES with Noel Coward and Gerturde Lawrence. The dialogue in the dressing rooms would have been as sparkling (and raunchier) as on the stage.
Musical - CAMELOT would have been fun - and DRAMATIC!

I happen to know two couples who have been on "While You Were Out" - just luck of the draw I guess. Apparently, the production staff does a very good job of setting up the whole scenario. Yes, people have questioned the cameras, and, yes, some people have figured out what was going on. But, at least according to the two people I know, they didn't have a clew that they were being set up.

I turned on my laptop (which I rarely use) and a window appeared that said I was connected to the internet. I clicked on IE, and lo and behold, here I am!
