Hello - been E&T all week, s'been a long week.  Tech week for "Seussical-The Musical", which opened last night at San Mateo High School in San Mateo.  And I must say, it's very good musically!!! (not that I'm biased)  Anyhow, it's been tough to keep up here at HHW this week, I did read the notes, though.  So, instead of trying to keep with with the posts, I just resigned myself to the notes!

On Tuesday, I woke up at about 3:00am suffering from a bout of food poisening.  Not fun.  I had to play three 50 minute performances of "Seussical" that morning, and I must say, there is nothing worse than playing a show with no dialogue, while going through bouts of nausia.  Not fun.  Everything is fine now, thankfully.

Other than the show opening, it's been a week!!!  Nice to post again.

Current musical theatre phase "Martin Guerre" both the 1996 and 1999 versions.  Has anyone seen this?  I saw it in LA, loved the first act, thought the second act was just bad!!!

Another song from a cartoon that I love is "Human Again."  It was written for (and originally cut from) the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast."  They added it to the Broadway show and reinstated it for the recent DVD release.

Yo! Been outa commission here for what seems like ages. The lady at the place I'm (still!) staying (GOD! somebody find me a sublet!!!) has decided I can't use the phone line. OY!

Anyhow, I've looked at several apartments this week - out of all of them there is ONE that is possible. Still trying to schedule a few more from sublets.com. Hard to get in contact with those folks, for some reason. They list their apartments, then you can't reach 'em. Oh, well...

COLD here - but a lovely blue sky all day. I had forgotten about winter... it's COLD. And I shore ain't as young as I used to be. Can you spell Arthritis? Wish I couldn't...

So I've engaged (finally) a press rep/publicist. She is Judy Jacksina, used to be Cy Coleman's rep. Wild, red-headed woman, high energy, loves my work. Production week is less than 6 weeks away. Load in 6 weeks from Monday. Gosh I'm so excited about it. Sent the sheet music off to Jose a couple of days ago.

And so it goes...

Jay! I'm so sorry about Roller. I have been borrowing other people's dogs since George died 7 years ago. When I need peace, I go to my Happy Place - that's me and George, early in the morning at Rancho Park in LA, every day during 1986. Nobody else around, George and Penny on the dew spangled grass, just happy to be together on a limitless lawn, surrounded by trees, chittered at by birds and squirrels, lost in our own little world.

Grief is a long process, and at the end of it, I know that there really is no loss. Be comforted. Love is never gone. Those happiest times of my life are still here, any time I want to visit. I'm on my way to becoming the kind of person George thought I was. Whatta dawg.

Favorite cartoon song is probably A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes. And When You Wish Upon a Star. I'm still wishing on the first star of the evening, all these years later...

I'm back, and to prove it, I'm here.  She of the Evil Eye has left the home environment.  I just had a nice treat - I walked into the Studio City Bookstar, went to the mystery section and lo and behold and also behold and lo there were three copies of Writer's Block.

I delivered the pages to my friend Margaret and will await her call whenever she gets time to read them.

I'm now thinking about food.  One food I am not thinking about is kreplach.

I'll have dinner with you, PennyO.  Fly to LA right now.

According to the Songs for the New Depression Tour, a Kreplach is a person from Kreplachia; which is a small fishing nation wedged between Astonia and Latvia.  We don't hear too much from them since the Iron Curtain fell, but occasionally one or two manage to escape. . .but never to Cleveland. . . ;)

I'm thinking about food.  I'm entertaining suggestions.  Have you entertained suggestions?  Frankly, suggestions needed some entertainment so I am doing a little shuffle-ball-change for its mental delectation.

I have a bit of news.  I got my income tax refund on Thursday night directly deposited into my checking account (this is news, but this isn't new news).  What is new news is that I have since purchased some things (mainly CDs and DVDs), including PennyO's very own book  Jewish Thighs on Broadway!  And I didn't buy a used copy (starting at $9.93).  No...I paid full price so that PennyO would get the money from the sale!  I just wish that I could see the live show.

We got the snow and sleet they predicted, but it stopped around noon. But it's so cold that what we got won't be melting making it even more treacherous tomorrow. (We're also supposed to get freezing rain tonight. Ack!)

And I didn't get any DVDs watched yet. I did see MONK from last night from the DVR, but that's it for viewing so far today. I'm determined to at least get HOME ON THE RANGE watched today.

I'm still thinking about food.  I could rustle up some pasta and butter, but I'd eat too much.  That said, it sounds pretty good to me.  I could also go out and bring something back.  But what?

Hopefully, I have some TV watching to do.  "Star Trek:  Enterprise" and "Battlestar Galactica" were on last night and I totally forgot to check the tapes that were left in my VCRs (which had taped other shows earlier) to see if there was enough time left on them.  If there was enough time and the shows actually did get taped, I'll watch both of them.  If they didn't get taped, I'm going to take a shower and run some errands for a few hours.  Either way, I'm off and will be back later :)

Oh, whatever shall I eat?  Now I'm thinking pizza from our delicious pizzaria.  But I could eat twelve ounces of pasta and butter and it would be less fattening than pizza.  It's dilemma, it's delimit, it's dekreplach.

ENTERPRISE was the first of a multi-episode story (which I didn't know when I started watching). Good episode, but I was angry that nothing I read tipped me off that the episode wasn't self-contained.

Have you ever noticed how long it takes water to boil?  Most annoying.  It's like watching paint dry.

Is this a slow news day here at haineshisway.com?  We need some action, some life, some ha cha cha.  In short, we need to do the Kreplach dance.
