Yes, you did, and I thought they were wonderful. However, after my experience with the local arts consortium (not adequately promoting the free workshop I did for them), I hesitate to get you involved with them.
Hi, Gins! Yes, the arts orgs seem reluctant to do much to promote workshops, etc - tto much effort - and they don't HAVE to promote anything! Arts Commissions and other government-blessed orgs don't have a Bottom Line to worry about - there are plenty more $$$ where these came from - it's Tax Money - they don't have to get anything back. And if they offer a free workshop, who cares if anyone actually attends???
Generally, I offer the workshops at a reasonable cost, and the arts org donates grant money to ME to cover the cost of perhaps 6 or 8 "underprivileged" or non-profit attendees. I do all the promo: interviews, free ink in newspapers, newsletters, interviews on radio - working the timing out at east 6 months in advance to hit the week or two before the seminars. THEY get a successful workshop- with photos to prove it! - and I GET THE MONEY!! for my efforts.
Incentive works, every time!!! Ask me again why I'm a Libertarian...
