Good news for Bootsie!

I doubt Callie will agree.

My mom's parents lived about two hours from us in the South Carolina mountains, so I'm sure this was my first trip away from home. They owned a small dairy farm, and I can remember many visits, particularly in the summer, wandering through the pastures and fields on their farm. They lived a very different life from the one I was used to in the city. (They had a well which was very strange for me.)

Once again into the breach.

A new week has dawned and I'm already a "broke" man.

Yes, "broke."

Two of film music's most prolific labels released some recordings this past weekend (Friday afternoon and at midnight past) that set me back some $300-plus.

Sigh.

Those recordings (one a 12-CD box) plus a rather exciting eBay win, the cost of which is not included above, pretty much leave me to forage on whatever's in my freezer/pantry the rest of the week as I've exceeded my "allowance."

So sad being an addict in today's marketplace.

I managed to finish watching Season 3 of "Lois and Clark" over the weekend, finishing the final two "cliffhanger" episodes (which also left folks hanging until season 4).  It was fun.  I'm glad it's over, though.

Better get to work. I have to leave early to pick up Bootsie from the vet and bring her home.  I am very happy she will be home tonight.  Callie and I had a great weekend. She just doesn't know it's her last as an only cat

Every time I read the name Bootsie, I hear the guy in "Hernando's Hideaway" saying, "Poopsie...Poopsie..."

DR TPunk my 7 layer dip usually has the following:

bottom layer (refried beans combined with packet of taco seasonings and a bit of sour cream.

next layer (mixture of softened cream cheese and sour cream).

next layer (salsa).

next layer (guacamole (avocados with a bit of salsa and sour cream).

chopped lettuce

shredded cheese

Sometimes i use little cubes of tomatoes. The recipes 7 layers has that and black olives (instead of guacamole).

TPunk, I know what you meant and my comment is meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but:  should you really have said that the parade was in honor of the 25th anniversary of AIDS?? ::)

 8)

I see what you're saying but it's actually kind of complicated.  Because the reason behind the parade is definitely to celebrate and honor gay pride.  And because HIV has so severely impacted the gay community, especially in NYC, HIV/AIDS service orgs have generally taken part in the festivities and been represented in the parade- but not as the main focus.  And because the focus of the event is Pride and not HIV/AIDS we do tableing and outreach- but NEVER testing.  This year, because it also marks the 25th anniversary of the virus, ASO's were positioned in front, but I don't think that the parade was primarily to honor the anniversary.

Interesting, I like the idea of mixing sour cream and cream cheese.  Here is my recipe from the bottom layer up:

Refried Beans
Sour Cream
Cubed avocado
Tomatoes
Olives
Green onion
Shredded cheese

On the TOD: The first trip I have any real memory of was a weeklong roadtrip through southern california.  First stop was Long Beach, then San Diego (went to the zoo, waited on line for Sea World then decided to skip it and head to LA), Anaheim (Disneyland!!), Santa Barbara (we stayed at the Queen Mary).  It was great fun because it was just a vacation and not a trip to visit family.  And also because it's the longest period of time I can ever remember my dad being consistantly nice.

I would guess that my first "out of town" visit was to Portland to see Grandma Cooper and other relatives. We had relatives in only 3 places...Medford (us), Portland (my mom's family), and New York (my dad's family)...and we never traveled to New York.

McDonalds is evil because it is cheap, and because it is cheap it encourages waste.  Little children learn from McDonalds that it is OK to eat only half of a sandwich and drink only some of their milk or soda.

McDonalds is evil because it encourages haste.  Run to the playground, kiddies, that's more important than sitting with your parents and eating your meal.  Life is a playground, ignore everything else.  And all that trash you left behind, forget about it, someone else will pick it up.

And their food tastes like... oh, what the heck, it tastes like PRETTY POO.  But everyone has been so hasty in eating it that they don't notice, and besides, it's cheap, so who cares.

Bleh.

I like McDonald's.  It isn't great food, but it has variety and it is inexpensive.  I like the French fries, I like the fillet o' fish, I like the Quater Pounder with Cheese, and I like the chicken wraps and sandwiches.

If children rush through their meals and run off to the playground, or if they leave half a sandwich uneaten; it sounds to me like it is their parents who are evil, not McDonald's.  I don't believe a place is evil, just because it is successful.

Back from a walk...1.5 miles, IIANM (that's "if I am not mistaken in internet lingo").

Just the right distance for the time allotted (20 minutes).

And now it's time for lunch.

Ahhh....LUNCH!
