In any case...
Todays' Six-Month Required EPAs for
The Phantom of the Opera were truly an all-day affair. By the time that the casting director and I arrived at Chelsea Studios for the start of today's auditions, there were quite a number of people already signed up on both the Equity and the non-Equity lists. By the end of the day, we had seen about 200 people - every available slot had been taken - and there were over 100 pictures and resumes left by people who were not able to be seen today!
All in all, it was quite a talented bunch of actors/actreses/singers. Since it was a call for
Phantom, I had a chance to give my classical-opera chops a workout every now and then. I had a fun day. It was a long day, but fun. And I have to say that Ron LaRosa has to be one of the, if not THE most generous and supporting casting director out there. He listened to everyone, and even offered some bits of constructive criticism every now and then to some of his "regulars". It's always a pleasure being "behind the table" with him.
As usual, I had a couple of mini-reunions throughout the day. There were even a few people making their first Broadway auditions, and I hoped that I played well enough to give them a good first impression of the Big Time.
Of course, there were a couple of "interesting" auditions. In fact, I'm still sort of puzzling over two auditionees in particular. And once I get the details figured out - or at least recounted and assembled - then maybe I'll share the stories...
