Vixmom, thanks for the update on Starfighter and the soiree.  I really enjoy the CD and am glad I have it. Wish I could have been there for the reading.

Vixmom, this sort of energy comes over me about once quarterly.  So, if you borrowed me for one day, I would probably just want to supervise!

no, no that's what I'm good at!!

There is no cleaning job that I cannot tell someone else how to do!

DR Cillaliz - Keep it going!  Keep it going!

I get into cleaning "fits" too every now and then.  However, mine usually occur sometime after midnight.  ???

As for Thursday... Well...  I know!

Why don't we all meet at the Time-Warner Center at 11:00, and then walk over to Sarabeth's?  This way, our initial meeting spot will be right at a subway stop - A/C,B/D,1 - and if anyone arrives early, they can check out the shops in the Time-Warner Center.  And I think the whole Illy coffee "display" will still be set up, so you can also grab a free shot of espresso - with or without crema - on the first floor.

...Then by the time we get over to Sarabeth's, the lunch service should be starting up.

Looks like BK's flight landed in L.A.  about 15-20 minutes late.  Hope that doesn't present any problems with his getting to his appointment on time.

Well, I was planning on making it a short afternoon anyway since other people - including myself - have other events and activities to attend to that afternoon.  Since we'll be lunching right at Central Park South, there won't be too much travel time to get to Central Park proper - just cross the street.   Right now, I'm thinking, we'll walk up Fifth Avenue, then head back down through the Park once we hit the Metropolitan, Guggenheim, Cooper-Hewitt museums.

*So that means we'll be walking up from 59th to at least 91st, and back again.  30 blocks or so each way.  If we leave Sarabeth's by 1:00, then we should be up and back by 3:30 with no problem - and at a semi-leisurely pace.   Or we could all head over to Madison Ave., take the bus up - and sightsee via the bus - to 91st, and then walk back from there.  Options galore.  I may do a test run tomorrow afternoon when I'm back in NYC.

Here it was my one day to sleep in, but the cats have decided differently!

Hi, BK!

So like cats :D.  Did they want to snuggle and be petted?  Ours always did.

Nice review of NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, which among other things, praises Bruce's foresight in preserving the score.

Meeting at the Time Warner Center makes a lot of sense.  I'm up for the walk but whatever people want to do is fine with me. I think this is sounds like a great afternoon

GOod afternoon. Almost 5 p.m. and it's 80 degrees here. Warmer than I'd like, but since I spent most of the day inside, I guess it doesn't matter.

I watched three films this afternoon.

I began with THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA. Lovely film fantasy. Yes, I had to endure the battle sequences (just as I had to do on the LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, my least favorite parts of the films).

Some of the characters were truly endearing and one wanted to spend much more time with them.

Whew!  I think I'm ready to stop now. The stove has been cleaned, the oven is clean, the microwave is clean, the science projects are no longer in the refrigerator.  The laundry is done and folded...

I haven't had a cleaning frenzy like that in a while.  It was sorely needed!

Next came TARANTULA. Universal has tranferred the film with great sharpness and a very clean print for a film of this age. Yes, I wish they had done an anamorphic widescreen transfer instead (plenty of space at the top and bottom for matting), so I did it myself via the TV, and it looked just fine.

Leo G. Carroll's makeup is well done for his disfigurement, but the other two scientists are in what looks like leftover Gill Man masks from THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. Obviously a cost cutting measure. I guess the extra sharpness of the DVD made those stand out for me this time. I never noticed their cheapness on the videotape.

And I ended the afternoon with MURDER IS EASY, the first CBS/Agatha Christie made-for-TV movie. Since it didn't feature any of Mrs. Christie's usual detectives, the film wasn't going to be remembered as fondly as some of the later ones they did. But the star cast was most enjoyable: Bill Bixby, Lesley-Anne Downe, Olivia DeHavilland, Helen Hayes, Jonathan Pryce, Freddie Jones.

Before DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES comes on tonight, I will make it a point to clear the DVR of the other TV shows currently on it by watching THE OFFICE and LAW & ORDER. If there is time left over, I may put in the last of THE WILD WILD WEST episodes from the first season boxed set.

Yeah! TAR tonight. I do look forward to seeing that.  I'm still trying to decide if I want to give someone my ticket to I CAN'T STOP LOVING YOU and going to Omaha Tues night so I don't have to get up at 4:00 or 4:30 AM on Wednesday. Has anyone seen it?

Yes, the aominable thing about this time of year is late afternoon football that pushes back the entire CBS lineup. On my DVR, I have to set it to not only record COLD CASE and WITHOUT A TRACE but also the news broadcasts afterward, too, just so I can be sure to get the entertainment shows in their entirety.
