Well, you've read the notes, the notes were festively festive (and why shouldn't they be - it's Ocober, after all), and now it is time for you to post until the festively festive cows come home.

I shall now try to get five and one half hours of sleep.  That is, if my neighbors will shut up and stop being so damnably loud.

Good Evening!

So glad to hear that the The Last Starfigher readings and the Joe Allen soiree were such successes.  I really am sorry that I could not make it back up to NYC for both events.  I'm sure that there will be many more Joe Allen get-togethers in the future, and I'm pretty sure that we have not heard the last from The Last Starfighter either.

:)

Glad to hear that STARFIGHTER went so well. Sounds like a great time was had by all at Joe Allen. I hope someone took photos!

In other news...

After I finished running my errands this afternoon, I met up with my friend, Andy, for dinner and a movie.

Dinner - Gordon-Biersch - Those Garlic Fries sure are yummy!  And the Jägerschnitzel was very tasty too.

Movie - "Flyboys" - A good movie, not a great movie.  I've never really been a fan of war movies, and this one didn't help turn the proverbial tide.  Some nice eye candy, some nice aerial scenes of the French countryside (well, actually England), and way too much CGI for my taste.  And I just have to wonder just how much of the story was "inspired" and/or "based" on real events.  -Well, I know that World War I really did happen, so... ;)

Hmm... I thought when I clicked "Post" that the topic was locked...  So that's why I posted again... Or maybe I just had too many garlic fries.

Well... And I don't think I've mentioned this yet...  ;)

I think I'm just gonna wait to head back up to NYC until midday Monday.  This way, I can take my time getting my things in order and packed for later in the week.  -I'm gonna need to pack for my cruise tomorrow, so I'm not scrambling late Thursday night when I get back from NYC.  However, if I find that I'm running ahead of schedule, I can always head to Union Station tomorrow afternoon and hop on the next train.  Sounds like a plan - and a contingency plan to me.

The Last Starfighter was a real treat, GREAT cast. BK made an enjoyable Otis. It was kind of odd to see the real live Jessica Skerritt in person, after she had been an HHW phenomenon some time ago. The show is a lot of fun, and although I was a part of what Skip felt was the less responsive of yesterday's two audiences, the audience seemed rapt with attention from my point of view. Some audiences are more vocal than others, but you can't always go by that.

The Joe Allen fest was also fun. A good mix of folks. A tasty tostada for me. I have to say I don't know if ANYONE took any photos. Uh-oh!

George, thanks. I don't know when they will decide who wins that contest. Friday was the deadline for entries. I was feeling pretty good about my chances, but I looked last night and there were a couple last minute entries that had some detailed animation and whatnot, so we may not win.

The dude who played Zur in STARFIGHTER was good. In the "Father/Son" number, he seemed to be channelling Barry Dennen as Pontius Pilate in the JC SUPERSTAR film.

Restaurant Serves Chocolate Pizza
By Belinda Goldsmith
Reuters
NEW YORK (Sept. 29) - Slices of chocolate pizza. Syringes that squirt liquid chocolate into your mouth. Warm double chocolate fondue.

Israeli restauranteur Max Brenner's new chocolate bar off New York's Union Square, Chocolate By The Bald Man, caters for chocoholics of all ages -- and is pretty much a disaster for anyone trying to watch their weight.

Brenner has opened 19 restaurants worldwide in the past six years -- in Australia, Israel, Singapore and the Philippines -- but this is his first in the United States with plans to open a second in New York's East Village later this month.

Sitting in his restaurant that has the feel of a European cafe but with zany wallpaper and pipes across the ceiling giving it the look of a chocolate factory, Brenner explains that he set out to create a chocolate culture.

"I believe chocolate for people is not just about taste. It's about memories, about fantasies, about fun," the bald-headed Brenner told Reuters as he melted, mixed and poured a variety of chocolate concoctions.

"People want the whole chocolate experience. A ritual. So I created a ceremony around chocolate with special cups and utensils."

Hot chocolate is served at his restaurants in oval-shaped cups tapered at one end called "hug mugs" that are cradled in hands. Coffee comes in "kangaroo cups" with a pouch or shelf for chocolate. Ice cream popsicles come with bowls of melted chocolate, chocolate waffle balls and caramelized pecan bits.

Well...

Been there.  Done that.

;)

Actually, when I was in Australia a few years ago, I happened to come across Max Brenner's shop at Manly Beach.  I haven't been to his new New York store, but, trust me, it's on my list.

*And you should have seen the lines of people waiting to get into his new store even before it opened since no definite opening date was posted.  And, yes, I was one of the hopefuls.

-I'm just trying to figure out if he's related to Yul Brenner.

-And his website is pretty cool too - just Click Below:

Well, instead of joining the NY HHW gang at Joe Allen's (via telephonic device...I am pitifull, I know) I watched some motion picture entertainments including the low budget 1963 horror flick HOUSE OF THE DAMNED starring Ms. Merry Anders and Mr. Ron Foster, who is my new favorite B movie actor.

Great show. I have mixed opinions on Tennant. I prefered Eccleston.

Zoe Wanmaker!  That's who that was!  I knew that I knew who she was but I just couldn't think of her name (even when she was on last season).  Damned squished credits. :P

Anyway, I will admit that I do prefer Eccleston as well, but mainly because Tennant is new...maybe after the second series is over, I might feel differently.

But then, no matter how I feel about Tennant, I'll always like Eccleston, too. ;)

I went to see a play in traditional epistolary form tonight, "Love in the DMZ- A play in letters" and it was throughly touching and thought provoking and striking and everything live theater should be. I truly loved it! It was an invitational performance for playhouses wishing to host the play in their theater, and there are even talks of having it off broadway.
If I hear of an open performance of it anyware I will post and highly reccomend!
