GOING TO THE WELL

Well, you've read the notes, the notes read well, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they've gone to the well, too.

South Korea picks gay-themed film for Oscars
Friday, September 29, 2006

SEOUL (AP) — South Korea selected a gay-themed movie that became an unexpected domestic box office hit to put forward as its candidate for the best foreign film category at the U.S. Academy Awards, the country’s state-run film agency said Sept. 24. “King & the Clown,” a tale about an effeminate male clown caught between the affections of a despotic king and the love of a fellow performer, is the No. 2 film in all-time ticket sales in South Korea. The Korean Film Council said it decided to pick “King & the Clown” because it was believed to have a better chance of winning an Oscar nomination.

Nominated films are scheduled to be announced in January, the council said. A Korean film has never been nominated for an Academy Award.

No anagrams today.  Getting anagrams from a word like JOCUND?  Don't make me laugh!

Morning all!  To the DR's in NY--are you going to try to be on Good MOrning America again?  If so, I shall set the Tivo up to tape it.

Ginny, did you get a room toward the front of the hotel like I did?  I thought mine was rather bigger then yours last year.

Good travel vibes to DR Cillaliz!

Congrats on the Condo to DR George as well!   I am thinking I may trade the house in for condo someday.  Trying to take care of the yard is just getting to be to much for me.

Good morning one and all. I have to go to the eye doctor this afternoon to make sure the hematoma from last week is nothing serious.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the Cloisters Ginny. It's a gorgeous setting and yesterday's weather made a trip up there a perfect NY activity. And the bus ride back down to Midtown is fun if you have lots of time and just want to relax.

Gotta run. Later gaters.

Well, after reading your notes, all I can think of is Rosemary's line from "Picnic" (in response to "Well, well, well.":

"A well is a hole in the ground, Howard."

Of course it's still early yet.

DR FJL, I just sent you a PM!

Good morning, all!  I had to cancel my NYPL date with DR Ginny today; I forgot I had a meeting with my accountant at 1:30 in Wall Street, and that's much more important yo my life but much less thrilling than spending time with a dear friend.

Beyond that, I have a small arrangement for the Men's Chorus to drop off and then a trek to Toyland.

Good Morning!

I awoke to the strains of baritone, Thomas Quasthoff, singing, "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" on WQXR.  Quite a beautiful rendition.  And he's singing Mahler at Carnegie Hall tonight...  Hmm...

all I can think of is Rosemary's line from "Picnic"

All I can think of is Tommy Steele's song in "The Happiest Millionaire"

Singing:

Well, well, well! Let's have a drink on it, as me father used to say!
When the truth is nobley spoken, it's respect you've got to pay.
So fill 'em up and lift 'em up and clink "here's how"...
no shilly-shallying, no dilly-dallying,
Let's have a drink on it, now!
