Well, you've read the notes, the notes were brainy, and now it is time for you to post until the brainy cows come home.  To it, I say.

Political movies?  "Reds" is a good one. :)

Would "Nasty Habits" be considered a political movie? ::) It's sort of a retelling of the Nixon Watergate scandal, set in a nunnery. ;)

News from DR jhvw's environs:

Student Fires Assault Rifle in Missouri Middle School

Quote
By MARCUS KABEL, AP

JOPLIN, Mo. (Oct. 10) - Fascinated by the Columbine bloodbath, a 13-year-old boy in a dark green trenchcoat and mask carried an assault rifle into his school Monday, pointed it at students and fired a shot into a ceiling before the weapon jammed, authorities said. No one was hurt.

Officers arrested the teen behind a nearby building. Police described his weapon as a Mac-90, a replica of an AK-47 assault rifle.

Jones said the gun belonged to the boy's parents, who kept the weapon in a safe at home. The parents told police their son apparently knew the combination to the gun safe. Farmer said it is not uncommon for people in the area to own assault weapons.

Two issues leap to mind:

ONE - what's the sense of having a gun-safe and giving your young kids the combination! (A gun safe is not to keep only thieves out, it is to keep all but the owners out!)

TWO - it is not "uncommon" for the folks in the area to own AK-47s! This is paranoia to the extreme! Which do they think is a greater danger to their community: an armed invasion/insurrection or a troubled kid acting out!

This is not about Second Amendment Rights, it is about common sense and responsible parenting - clearly in short supply!

I spent last night finishing our Sacco and Vanzetti trailer so we can put it on the DVD release of The Internationale, which comes out next month...just in time for your holiday shopping for "the idealist in your life"!

Well, if we still lived in Califonia, we could go for a short drive and cast our votes for the Nov 7 Election (turn in absentee ballots or vote in person on touch screen machines).

This drives us political strategists nuts - the election could be settled before the campaign ads even hit the airways, or the mail hit the voters mail boxes.

Good morning, all!  I'm surprised the hoyden.org site since it gives the word a lesbian connotation and since it makes no mention of my first discovery of the word, Mlle Hoyden Tunbelly, in Vanbrugh's comedy THE RELAPSE of 1696.  THE RELAPSE certainly contains no lesbian references, although the play does have a gay character, Coupler the marriage broker.  When did the ladies make the word a butch reference?

Entry: hoy·den
Pronunciation: 'hoi-d &n
Function: noun
Etymology:        perhaps from obsolete Dutch heiden country lout, from Middle Dutch, heathen; akin to Old English h[AE]then heathen
:a girl or woman of saucy, boisterous, or carefree behavior

This morning, I have to finish editing this Quadrille from BABES IN TOYLAND, after which I shall return home to perform some more brain work.

Hi all!  I hope those who traveled had a good time and are all back home safe and sound.

I hope that I will be able to make it next year but with the way things are going it may be a very long time before I'll be able to travel again.

Bear showed signs of having tapeworms so I had to take him to the vet last night.  He is such a good boy.  He had to have 2 shots and some blood drawn but he didn't give them a bit of trouble.  I fear that his back legs/hip is giving him some trouble.  The doctor wants to run all kinds of tests but I can't afford them until after the first of the year.  The blasted house insurance hike is murder on my budget and it would be  due during the holidays.  Sigh.

It's a chilly 65 degrees here in "Sunny" Florida this morning.  I know some of you will laugh but I pulled out my yellow jacket (the one I wore on the walking tour last year) this morning.  It's rough to go from the 80's down to the mid 60's in a matter of 24 hours.  Burrrr!

Good morning, DRs Michael Shayne and Danise!

Glenda Jackson went into politics with the Labour movement; she's quite critical of Tony Blair.

I didn't know anyone even voted for it! That's encouraging!
We tried to vote for our feature, "Ociee Nash", but it didn't make any difference, because if you are in the crew list, the imdb gives it a "weighted average" and your vote doesn't count for much!

When S&V comes out, I hope people who like it will also vote favorably, as they have for The Internationale. I just went and voted for it, myself. Gave it a 10, too!
