Just George and me.  And George hasn't even mentioned receiving a certain book, let alone reading it.

I most humbly apologize for this oversight!  With all the excitement of getting my new place ready for me to move into it and then actually moving, I totally forgot to mention that I had received your book!  Which I have!! ;D

And with rehearsals for Cannibal:  The Musical, I don't have a lot of time to read much of anything, other than my script.  I can't wait until things settle down for me to make some time for it. :)

Seattle Times

Quote
By writing into law for the first time the definition of an "unlawful enemy combatant," the bill empowers the executive branch to detain indefinitely anyone it determines to have "purposefully and materially" supported anti-U.S. hostilities. Only foreign nationals among those detainees can be tried by the military commissions. U.S. citizens designated enemy combatants have not been stripped of their habeas-corpus rights and so have access to civilian courts.

Traditionally, unlawful enemy combatants encountered on a field of battle would be subject to summary execution (they become simple combat casualties). With the advent of the current tactics of asymmetrical warfare involving un-uniformed irregular combatants, and no clearly defined battlefields, the issue of "due process" becomes more complex.

I would refrain from hysterical reaction until these issues work themselves out.

And the word of the day is: INFUCATION!
Casey would waltz
With the strawberry blonde,
But her facial INFUCATION threw him off the beat -
For some reason, she had made herself up to look exactly like his mirror image, right down to the mole just off center on his forehead.  Creepy.

I wouldn't know how to ACT IF UNION leaders demanded that all members undergo an INFUCATION, tattooing their affiliation on their right cheeks.

Wednesday early-morning greetings!  Today I'm helping with a

Special Event

after which I'll get off work a little early.

Sorry to have missed the ascent of DR Edisaurus last night!  Congratulations!

The two managers of the department where I work are leaving for NYC today to attend training for recepients of the grant which I helped them prepare.  If I'd been invited to go along, I'd be there for the partay at Fred & Skip's on Friday.  Oh, well, I'll be there in spirit!

When I read DR Woody's un-jumbles in the morning, I think of that scene in "Wordplay"(the great crossword puzzle documentary) where we're riding in the car with one of the puzzle constructors.

As they drive past Dunkin Donuts, the puzzle guy notes off-hand that if you move the D to the back of the first word, it would read
"Unkind Donuts". I think Woody should come up with his own form of puzzle (basically what he's doing now) and syndicate it!

Off for coffee and unkind (to your waistline) donuts!

Good morning, all!  Good morning, Edi, or is it goddi?

BK, I don't need the CD then.

I've got some polishing on the BABES CD notes this morning, and then some brain surgery, all between rounds of laundry and whatever fresh hell turns up.

Wednesday, and I MAY go shopping for a new desk chair.   I can't decide.  Looks a bit cloudy today, and we may get some of DR CILLA LIZ's snow on Friday.  YIKES!

I think Mr Henry Mancini probably did some music cues for THE MOLE PEOPLE, so listen closely and maybe you can hear some of the talent coming up out of the ground.

I enjoyed reading in his books about the pastische scores the Joseph Gershenson would put together for the Universal Sci Fi films of the 50's.

Welcome to the heavens to NEW HHW God EDISAURUS.  Just remember we are a pleasant bunch here and have certain ways to solve disagreements.

My first question for ASK BK day....what scene in a famous movie do you consider unnecessary and you would edit it out?  Or even trim a shot or two?

JRand's question - I would trim some of the lovely Betsy Palmer's ludicrous big scene in FRIDAY THE 13TH.  Too much of it made that scene cross over from being scary to being silly, I thought, and made a slight mockery of the fine actress.

I'd also trim the "Don't f*** with me fellas" line from MOMMIE DEAREST.  Would have preferred a less silly moment for what should have been a powerful section story-wise.

I'm home this morning because I have to attend a meeting with child protective services for one of my clients later today.  The meeting is all the way downtown, so it didn't make sense to go up to the Bronx only to leave an hour later for a 1-2 hour commute downtown.

But then, when i was 17 and saw NETWORK at an advance screening, before the reviews and the Oscar buzz,  I remember thinking I would have liked to have cut Beatrice Straight's scenes entirely - I thought they lent moral conscience to a film where such a thing was simply unearned.  Of course, i know better now, but at 17, i thought the brief moments slowed down the film, as brilliant as she was.

(And of course, the film has proven to be more prescient than we ever would have imagined - TV has exceeded the nightmare examples that even Chayefsky dared to imagine.)
