If the restaurant on the corner to which you're referring is Pigalle, you must try the French onion soup.  Assuming you like French onion soup, that is.

Right before my lunch break, a young lady asked me for help finding books about "eliminated manuscripts."

Just read that actress Phyllis Kirk, star of the wonderful thriller HOUSE OF WAX and the TV series THE THIN MAN, died on Thursday. What a wonderful actress she was. I especially enjoyed her in the film BACK FROM ETERNITY.

That sounds like a fun play DR CP!! How long has it been since you've been on the stage?

Save the cheerleader...

....save the World!

Well, hooray for DR RP, and for me also....I finally (maybe) understand your banner that runs here.  I saw at least what the cheerleader looked like.  I saw only the end part of Heroes last night, but the cheerleader girl seemed to be avenging some snarky and evil behavior by a very handsome "jock" boy who took advantage of some of the girls.  I just have to assume that she has some magical way to stay alive after crashing their car??

For the next 45 minutes or so, I'm in Telephone Reference.  At my station, one is supposed to be able to answer the phone, respond to email reference, and participate in online chat reference simultaneously.  At least when we're at the desk, we're only expected to wait on one person at at time  ::).

Edisaurus, I don't believe you've met my daughter, Sandra. She used to post here a lot and amuse us with stories from her Career Exploration class in college. She is now so busy with her new job that she doesn't have time to post often.

No need to worry about your age, Edisaurus. I suspect quite a few of us here aren't as young as we used to be.

So you have a little French boy, too? Mine moved back to Paris, remarried, and now has a darling daughter. I am most happy for him. His American wife turned out to be quite fickle. He is like a darling little brother.

Back in Telephone Reference.  At least, this hour, I only have to answer the phone and monitor the live chat.

And what, DRLaura, is Sandra's new job? If you/she told me when we met last August, I'm afraid it has escaped me.

Nice to see you back, DRSandra!

Hello, everybody!

Everything I did to get my college degree-- class with the dreaded Dr. C., IAAAAWWOTD, Rhetoric (whatever that is), countless all-night term paper sessions, and a Humanities final exam that still gives me nightmares-- all that has qualified me to make minimum wage as a teacher's aide at a preschool. This is a lot easier than that postmodern/rhetorical/whatever stuff I was doing earlier. Last week we learned about the color red.

Can't recall the name of the woman who won the Pulitzer a few years ago for her play, "Wit," but she taught either preschool or kindergarten. Wonderful play, I thought.

I'd volunteer to play Christine, the one who can't sing (type-casting, you know), but I don't sing well enough to sound like I can't.
