I thought my post office in New York was terrible, but my hometown one this morning beat it by a mile.   I got there at 9, there were two people ahead of me, but the only postal worker receiving mail chatted liesurely to each of them as the line grew.  About 9:10, a gentleman came out and took another window and I waas his first customer.  I bought a book of stamps, a carton to send things back to New York, and an international money order, only I had to go see the lady who was taking her time.  The line behind me continued to grow.
The lady I needed to see was helping an older woman who would not shut up about running over her mail box (!!!???) so I had to wait another five minutes while that issue was settled.  I asked for an international money order for $45.50, only to learn she had to go get one.  It came back to me in the amount of $43.50, so she had to redo, first heading into the back to look for another.  I finally got out after thirty minutes at two windows.  Oy!
So, I notice that every day we have a new member, maybe 20-25 in the past week.  Who are these folk?  Are they going to join us or remain legitimate lurkers?
I'm crabby; these lousy Christmas arrangements are driving me mad.
