I had a busy evening of viewing, but was even more surprised when I went to take the garbage out for collection tomorrow. There on the porch was an Amazon box containing, among other items, the Astaire-Rogers box. This must have been deliovered after six o'clock because I went out that door when I went back downstairs, and there was nothing there then.

I'll be deciding as I'm falling asleep tonight which will be my first pick from the box to watch tomorrow.

Shouldn't we be giving spoiler alerts for books?  ;)

That would be great! :D

Maybe the Portland gang will stop by.  MBarnum has family here & JMK and family said they will visit u in the summer.

And Penny usually passes through in the summer.

Oh, we could all go to a play in Ashland!!

I watched the last of the episodes on the second disc in the CSI: NY box. It had to do with the death of a weathergirl by drowning in the field part of Central Park. Interesting case. The other one had to do with a man shot in the face with a shotgun. Very tragic story.

I've been wanting to revisit some of the DIsney animated features that I haven't watched very often, so tonight I picked TREASURE PLANET off the shelf. Stunning animation, and some clever riffs on Stevenson's tale. I only got about 30 minutes in, but I'm enjoying it as much the second time around as I did when I first saw it.

UGLY BETTY had something of a change of pace episode tonight; a little more serious and dramatic in nature rather than overwhelmingly funny. I missed the nephew this week, but the grownups certainly had problems that kept me very interested in the goings=on.

GREY'S ANATOMY had its usual interesting mix of cases

(a woman with two uteruses, for example), and we got to meet one of Derek's sisters who was quickly given the name McBitchy. She was.

And CSI had a sensational guest star performance from Alan Tudyck playing a pedofile pleading innocence in the case of two missing boys. I would certainly put him on the list for Emmy consideration next year.

Hello esteemed DRs and H/Ks ....... Just a quick pop-in to say goodnight to all and sundried here.

I second the motion of MBarnum to singingnymph......tell us a little about yourself.  Or as Ouizer would say .... "now, I know everyone around here, and I've never seen you before ....who are your people dear?"

And to dear Esteemed BK -- sleep well, and rest that cute punim of your's !

Were the hand beanies ever offered for sale, I wonder?  Was there any merchandising for 5.000 FINGERS?  Was it an actual Seuss book?

I'm pretty sure it was just a screenplay. And reading that interview with Conreid makes it sound like the studio didn't have confidence in the film, so they probably didn't do much merchandising. I guess they didn't do so much back then anyway.

But that gives me an idea...I think I have my Halloween costume for next year! Thanks, JRand!

Yeah! They finally announced it.  Curtains Up: Kander and Ebb Musical to Play Broadway with Pierce and Monk

Thanks for posting this...I will try to see it!

I met DHP after Spamalot---he was SO NICE!!

I will probably go to NY in mid-January. S&V is going to be the opening night film at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in Boston on Jan 17 at the Museum of Fine Arts. It will show opening night and then a week later, it will have a week-long run at the museum. I may fly in and out of NY and drive to Boston with my partner-in-crime and try to catch a show or two while I'm up there.

Charles Pogue, or anyone, how does THE MISTS OF AVALON end?

I worked on the TNT version, a 4 hour epic. Great cast: Joan Allen, Michael Vartan (yummm), Angelica Huston, but I'm sure the book was better. I'd take up the offer of the last 15 pages !

I have a cat that likes to shred things in the morning to wake me up. So I have to hide whatever bedtime book I'm reading under my pillow. So far, BK's books have remained unshredded!

"Mists": I thought the TNT version was an excellent adaption of my favourite take on the legend.

I'm glad you liked it, DR Tomovoz! I didn't read the book, but in reading the comments on imdb, it seemed like the people who did weren't happy with the TNT version.

I didn't like Samantha Mathis as Guinivere but I liked the rest of the cast. I also did some work for TNT on "Alias" and thought it was funny that the actors who played Arthur and Lancelot both played boyfriends of Jennifer Garner's character.

DP Colin had not read "Mists" and was so impressed with the "film".  I had not read the book for many years and thus was probably not aware of changes made to the "text".  Not many people are ready to accept film adaptions of book which need to be edited down for a screenplay.  I usually have that problem too.  "Prince Of Tides" changed the whole focus of a book which I had loved. (and no I don't blame Babs entirely).

And I'm missing François!

And where is Jose. He used to take breaks from cruising.

Tomovoz - I don't quite understand Francois' leaving, but it's apparently because I disagreed strongly with an intractable position he was taking.  I'm sorry you miss him, though.

DR FJL.  I doubt very much if that is the reason.  Way too complex are the reasons I suspect.
