I only have last night's CSI: NY to get through today, so it looks like OVER THE HEDGE (another loaner from best friend John) will get the nod. It's only 83 minutes, so I should be able to fit it into my schedule easily.

Of course, if the box of DVDs containing FLOWER DRUM SONG, the other R&Hs I ordered, Marlon Brando Collection, and POLICE SQUAD! comes today, all bets are off!

My goodness, the place cleared out fast!

I saw and was amazed by MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY during its first release, too, and didn't see the Laughton/Gable version until decades later. So, the Brando version has always been closer to my heart despite its epic length.

I had the laserdisc for years and am hoping for a good transfer upgrade on this new DVD.

I see that Warners is releasing a high definition version of this MUTINY next week. If it was taken from a 70 mm negative, that should be awe-inspiring to view.

My chronic depression decided to make a comeback.  Nothing spectacular, very low-level, but the pits all the same.
*HUGS* I have clinical depression as well. And no insurance, thus no doc/meds.  I've been relying on an OTC cocktail & it's efficacy is so-so.

Off to fix some lunch and then settle in for an afternoon of viewing. The mail hasn't come yet, so I have no idea what the afternoon will bring for viewing.

Maybe i'm in the minority, but i didn't think that last night's episode was that great.  I like this show alright. But it's just okay to me.

I was interested to see what happened in the bank robbery. I do really enjoy those moments and wish they showed more. I also liked the interaction between lizzie and lucas (robber).  But the stuff with the sister and scott wolf is sort of boring.

The end made me wonder who was doing the bugging. But i'm just not as invested in the characters as i should be.

If anybody likes reading tv recaps, my favorite site is television witout pity.

http://www.televisionwithoutpity.com

I like to read the recaps for some of the more mind-intense shows (lost, heroes, veronica mars).  And this week i discovered they have a really good forum section.

Caught up. And very worthwhile too. BK, your handling of the Town Hall dude was most amusing. Well done.

Edisaurus-
Very interesting your post regarding LeFont etc. And Daughters of the Dust! I was shown that movie in an undergrad class at the U of Georgia. I think I had to write a paper on it.

Thanks for that info, Ben. I have no idea when my name does/doesn't appear in these things. Because I work the fine arts side, I am in those kind of programs most.

Back from the jog - must do some shipping and some errands now, after which I shall return.  Jogging has been REALLY hard for the last week, not sure why.

Watched the second of the 1960s East German westerns last night (Sons of Great Bear)...it was a better movie, story wise, then the Chingachgook one, but the Indians were far too overdressed which made it somewhat less enjoyable. Still, it had some very good scenes and I highly recommend this set of films (again).

Last night MattH remarked:

BONES had a very entertaining episode tonight as Booth and Brennan investigate two bodies found outside Las Vegas.

I'm surprised that he didn't comment on the spectacular opening HDTV shot that started with a city-scape of Las Vegas and then swooped up and away and then back down to the scene in the desert - shades of CSI!

I don't watch tv much, so all this tv talk is going over my head.

I'm sort of a fan of Will & Grace, The Gilmore Girls and Law & Order, but I couldn't tell you who did what in which episode.

DR Rodzinski, I'm not exactly sure why nobody here likes niki (HEROES).  I think maybe it's because of the first couple of episodes where she drove to dump the body.

It just wasn't interesting. Especially compared to the other stories.

I love her son micah though.

That's why I didn't comment. It was EXACTLY like the opening of CSI. Spectacular for sure, but it's been done. Maybe not on this show, but it has been done.
