I found this guy who is confused and thinks he's on vacation now!

I think he was just dressing for the weather over the Carolinas.

WOD:  I loved Inga SWENISON in BENISON.

TOD:  Well, they were technically Chanukah presents, but I have stacks of DVDs lying around here.  Oy.  I've been watching An Angel at My Table, which, despite its title, is not a very festive film.  :)  Very similar story to Frances.  Hopefully not as fictionalized (or, maybe considering what happened to poor Janet Frame, I should hope it was fictionalized).  Don't ask me why, but I've also been watching the boxed set of MGM horror films, which have really superb commentaries (for a change).

Merry Christmas to one and all!!

Our Christmas dinner is being prepared in the kitchen.

Turkey and asparagus souffle are on the bill of fare.

I also got stacks of CDs.  The Anonymous 4 items put me in a Beta state (no mean feat, since Beta is a defunct format), and, though he is quirky and a little too precious at times, I really enjoyed JRB's solo album.  Still unlistened to are the two new Michael John LaC musicals (hey, they were on sale--so sue me).  I wonder if these will leave me as cold as everything else he's done has.  :)

Did I mention that my mom made me a special cake for the holidays?

Rum Cake!

And is it ever scrumptious!

Tonight is the Christmas gathering at my aunt's house of her other son who wasn't able to come last weekend or last night.

He will be here with his wife, his twin daughters, one son who joined the Coast Guard this past year, and one son who has a domestic partner and baby.

Debra and her family will be there along with me and my mom.

My aunt's house is small...and bedlam will ensue.

We won't be eating in any sort of formal manner...just grabbing, chowing down and fending for ourselves.

I am always most grateful my mom lives "across the street".  It's nice to just leave when one's last nerve has been trod upon.

If it's Christmas it must be bedlam - that's the title of my next Christmas album

TOD:
A friend who lives in Canada has the advantage of receiving both a nearby US PBS station, as well as TV Ontario (TVO), Canada's PBS-like station. TVO has wonderful programming, including a Yorkshire Television series called Heartbeat, which is extremely popular in both the UK and Canada. Said friend of mine is totally addicted to Heartbeat. Knowing how difficult I am to shop for, she now wisely tapes Heartbeat for me and sends me the fall season for Christmas each year, then the others throughout the year. Heartbeat is light drama, takes place in Yorkshire in the 1960's, with of course 1960's costumes, vehicles, and music. It's great fun and I always look forward to it.

I was addicted to the song "Heartbeat, It's a Lovebeat" by the deFranco family when I was a kid.

I have nothing else to add at this point.

We are watching the fireplace channel -- our favorite Christmas tradition (well, except for the bow stuck on DR Sandra's forehead by her brother) -- while the thank-you notes are being written.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I was laying in bed like so much fish, contemplating my day when I received a call from the Pogues.  How lovely a call it was and we laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more we laughed again.

Yes...it never fails to satisfy when one cleans up before retiring to bed.

I don't think I could face the new day if I had a greasy pot or pan staring at me as I entered the kitchen, much less dirty dishes.

Lucky you!  It's miserable-looking outside here.  Tornado warnings for two counties over (and in SC, those  counties aren't too far apart).

I used to wait until morning to clean the hideously dirty spaghetti sauce pot, because I was always too tired to do it, but it's ever so much nicer to do it and be done with it.

My Christmas Dinner (or, lunch, but it was more a dinner based on menu) is now done.

Turkey breast, dressing, gravy, peas, asparagus souffle (yummy), cranberry sauce and rolls.

If the day were nicer, I'd go out for a walk of a mile or two.

As it is, I could be rolled from room to room.
