And the word of the day is: FATIDIC!
Casey would waltz
With a strawberry blonde
Who found his FATIDIC ability to predict
What the next song the bandleader would announce
Fantastic
(But, of course, it was all pre-arranged
By the scheeming Casey
Who had paid the bandleader well).

I'm here but I'm about to leave. I just came across a problem in a recently published directory and the problem needs my attention.

Later!

I'm here.

I'm still aching from yesterday.  Work was... well, we were very, very busy.  One of my co-cashiers, an older woman named Sandy (who is a brunette) jokes that by working at Super G she doesn't need to join a gym.  Only it ain't no joke, there's a lot of lifting and step-aerobics involved.

Today should be interesting - we're holding a job fair, to fill in some of the non-cashier positions that have opened up.

I had a dream that you were in serious trouble because you chose to ignore the Word of the Day.

Knowing the consequences of such blatant acts of defiance, I hope my dream doesn't prove fatidic.

The wind chill in Tacoma is currently 21 degrees.  Very unusual for the Puget Sound area of Washington.

If the weather has gone to Hell in a hand basket; shouldn't it, at least, be a little warmer?

You know, Fred, every evening coming home from work; I turn into a driveway.

Good morning!

We have a bright, sunshiny morning, but it's cold again (got down to 22 last night). Supposed to be in the low 50s today, about 10 degrees warmer than yesterday.

I used to enjoy the magicians on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW, and of course have seen Doug Henning, David Copperfield, Siegfred and Roy, and others, but I guess because I know somehow there is a trick, it doesn't "send" me.

When THE ILLUSIONIST finally comes on HBO or one of the other paycable channels, I'll look forward to seeing it. I did enjoy THE PRESTIGE (which some have said is similar if inferior to THE ILLUSIONIST).

Having lunch today with friends, and with so many repeats on last night, will have only CSI: NY to watch (if that; not sure if the DVR picked it up at 3:30 this morning or if it was delayed further and thus the DVR would only have part of the program.)

As I mentioned last night, I have THE LAST SAMURAI in the player and SUPERMAN II: THE RICHARD DONNER CUT and SLEEPY HOLLOW, both in Blu-ray, waiting in the wings.

Tonight, CBS is in reruns, but ABC's complete slate (including UGLY BETTY and GREY'S ANATOMY), NBC's complete slate (including its comedy line-up and ER), and CW's slate (SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL) are new episodes. So, there will be plenty to see and even more to record!

Thursday morning greetings!  It's cold and sunny here in SW Ohio.

Here's a February 16 event in New York that may interest some Hainsies/Kimlets:

Good morning, all!  I'm hibernatng these dats, and I slept quite a long time.  I am moving, and I think I shall make a trip today for some anti-cold medications.  I shall then spend the day on my reports and I will listen, most likely, to Mr Guy Haines on my iTunes.

DRs Jose and DearReaderLaura, thanks for filling in for me last night on keeping DR MBarnum in check.  That posting was begging for critical commentary.

I finished the LADY IN THE DARK book; I enjoyed it very much, and I recommend it to all of you DRs.

TOD:  I never saw Doug Henning in THE MAGIC SHOW; I saw the national tour with Joseph Abbaldo in the role, and the magic was truly amazing.  Mr Abbaldo, who sadly died too young, was the casting director for the Houston Grand Opera production of BABES IN TOYLAND.

While I enjoy magicians okay; I wouldn't call myself a devotee, because I always know...it's, well, it's a trick...even if I don't know how it works.  And I do know how a few of them work...Back in the seventies for a short while, I worked for an entertainment complex in Dallas and one of my jobs was giving some young magicians some stage presence, panache, and a little patter.  So I was behind the scenes and got to see how the tricks were done.  I've also once spent a lovely night at The Magic Castle in Hollywood and that was quite fun.  I almost considered taking a membership as a place to entertain guests and take friends to dinner; but realized I really wouldn't use it that much.

The magicians I admire the most are those who do close-up magic, where you're right on top of them and they have to be really facile to fool you.

A Polish immigrant went to the DMV to apply for a driver's license. First, of course, he had to take an eye sight test. The optician showed him a card with the letters:
'C Z W I X N O S T A C Z.'
"Can you read this?" the optician asked.
"Read it?" the guy replied, "I know the guy!"
