According to my Futurama calendar, today (Friday, January 26) is Australia Day (I would assume only in Australia).  So, Happy (belated) Australia Day, Tomovoz!

I wonder if Australia has a Commonwealth Day?

"Australia Day" is January 26th. Commonwealth Day is May 24th. (It used to be Empire Day). I doubt anyone bothers with it at all.  May 24th was the birthday of Queen Victoria.  The day is still a holiday in Canada I think.

More people acknowledge Australia day this century than they did in my youth.  The problem with the date is that it is already in School summer vacation so is nothing special - and Australians are really not patriotic (except in following sport).

Australia Day is the anniversary of the invasion of this continent by Europeans.

Request:

If any DR can find a copy of Melissa Etheridge's Oscar nominated song "I Need To Wake Up" and can "burn" me a copy I would be most appreciative. I've never downloaded a song nor do I use MP3 format.

Is this song the first time there has been a nominated song from the score of a documentary (An Inconvenient Truth)

The song is not on the Soundtrack Cd  and there seems to be no recent Etheridge CD. I've assumed she sings it in the film.

It could be worse: it could be "I Need To Do the Dishes", "I Need To Go To  The Bathroom"!
That said, what a useful documentary that is and I remember the song as quite good!

DR Cason ~ Well, I'll be, did you know that our very own DRers ber Brucer and Woody wrote the preface notes for Brigadier General Grogan's book? (honest, I just looked it up)...small world...(easier to divide and conquer that way..)...
No.  Der Brucer wrote the notes.  I proof-read.

Rub a lemon on yourself...

And then some olive oil...

And then bake at 425 until you reach an internal temperature of 150.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!

Baking at 425 will result in a BK that is tough and dry.

I recommend that BK roast at 325, to an internal temp of 150.  The slower roasting will result in a BK that is moist and tender.

The Brain From Planet X and Joan Ryan should be available for pre-order within the next ten minutes at www.kritzerland.com  - There are photos, downloadable lyrics, but the sound clips won't be up until Monday night.  Order away.  Who will be first?

Sadly, it will not be me. :-\ Since payment goes through Paypal (and the money is taken right away...and right now I don't have enough except for the absolute keep-me-alive essentials ::)), I have to wait until next week (when I get paid) to order them.  And then I will!

Just listening to it could curdle the milk.
