I forgot to mention last night that I also found time before prime time started to watch Monday night's STUDIO 60. I found it a very disappointing episode. The characters are becoming people I don't like or very much care for (especially the smug, egotistical character D.L. Hugley plays), and the plotting is for the birds. Tom lying to the girl he's interested in because he was asked by his boss to take someone else to a dinner. Why lie? It's not like he had much of a choice or that they had invested any time at all in the relationship yet. Of course, he lied so the show would have a plot for him. Of course, she's going to find out.

Making matters worse, this was the first of a three part episode on this set of plotlines (Matt and Harriet falling out, Danny and Jordan stuck on the roof, etc.) I think this episode pretty much put the final nail in the coffin for the show. It's not going to pick up any more viewers with stories like this and without more viewers, NBC will cut its losses by the end of the season.

Another reminder that those who watch THE KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY will find it thirty minutes earlier in the evening tonight on ABC.

Anyone else sign up for their free D*ve deoderant sample?  I did!  I can't wait for everyone to see how soft and smooth my armpits will be.

BONES finally returns from hiatus (hooray!) tonight, and I'm looking forward to it. There's a new MEDIUM, too.

Hmmmm.....there used to be an income point below which you got a total refund of your Federal Income Tax deductions.

Now - if you make $15, you owe $1 in Federal Income Tax.  Even with ALL of my deductions and my LOWER income & retirement pay....I had to give the US Government $353.  This is MORE than I paid when I earned much more and was working full time.   >:(

My first question for ASK BK day... who are the most beautiful female celebrity and the handsomest male celebrity you have ever encountered?

I feel your pain. No matter how much I pay in quarterly taxes to try to get a jump on taxes owed, I still end up owing more. It's never ending.

I haven't figured my taxes yet for 2006 and won't for another two months. Last year, I did it mid-February, and I received three updated forms from my brokerage that changed my taxes (luckily lower each time but still). This year, it'll be late March/early April before I sit down to do them.

Last year, I used Turbo Tax, and it was relatively painless. I've switched to TaxCut this year. The software was cheaper, the e-file came with it, and hopefully, it will be as manageable as TurboTax was.

Good Morning, Cil.

Wow, almost to Page 3 at 7:45!

Perhaps it will be a record day in honor of Mr. Shayne, the keeper of the Bruce Kimmel archives.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MICHAEL SHAYNE (NOT THE DETECTIVE)

Thank you for my first morning laugh. I needed it.

Absolutely thrilled that at long last the brilliant movie THE HEIRESS comes out on DVD next week. So does THE CLOCK. Two great movies making their DVD debuts next week, and I'm delighted to finally get them in commercial form.

I've used the laserdisc to watch THE CLOCK for the last ten years. As for THE HEIRESS, I burned a DVD-R from its airing on TCM about a year ago.

These new issues should be a step up for me with each of them.

Good morning, all!  This is a relatively quiet day:  I have a date at 11:30 with the folk from Rodgers & Hammerstein about some work, and I have reports to write as well as a weekly letter to the head of the foundation with the recording project.  That's more than enough for the day!

Re the Filichia column and Micahel Shayne's letter to him - The only other Broadway flop play I can think of that had more than one screen life would be ALFIE, which was the subject of a BK trivia question (truly a major honor!!!) and also two movies.

OK Haven't read that article yet but will take a look at that.

Edi - maybe you missed my question, since it ended up at the very botom of a page, but are you planning to see SISTER ACT while it's at the Alliance in Atlanta?

Yes, I did miss it---thanks! I hadn't planned to see it; should I?

DR MATTH - since I can't afford the DD Set....what exactly does Ray A. say about the costuming in CAPRICE?  They must have known it was WRONG WRONG WRONG for D. Day at that point in her life.....

He said the set of costumes that she wore in the film were the third set of clothes he designed for her for the movie. She didn't like his designs the other two times he tried, so these clothes were HER choice, not his. He drew what she told him she wanted. I wonder if she saw MODESTY BLAISE and wanted something op-art?

He said he didn't really mind doing three sets of designs for her because he had done her wardrobe before and considered her a good friend.
