Well, you've read the notes, the notes hopefully agreed with you, and now it is time for you to post until the disagreeable cows come home.

I was trying to burn a CD of songs by The Manhattan Transfer and the burner froze!  I stopped the burning of the CD but now the CD (that I will have to throw away) is stuck in my burner. :o I might have to restart my computer to get it out. :P

Well, my computer restarted, but I didn't do it!  It just restarted on its own.  How rude!

Wow good TOD

I am sure there are songs from the 40's I like but don't realize that they are songs from the 40's. A little research is needed.

On the lighter side I see the Dixie Chicks sweep the Grammys.

They can't afford Janitors?

RE: last night's GREASE YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT.

I just want to say that I am really annoyed with the show for changing the voting.

It was not mentioned 2 weeks ago that there would be a sing-off between the bottom 2 Sandys and the bottom 2 Dannys.

I can just imagine that there are many people who think they made this up just because they were not happy with the audience votes.

I do think that having the audience pick the bottom 4 is a safer way to do things. And if they had wanted to do it this way (and indicated so BEFORE THE VOTING BEGAN) then i would say fine.

But to tell America that they are choosing the danny and sandy. and then have the judges vote out who they want is DISGUSTING.

Obviously Ashley A and Matt were the worst. But america voted out jason and ally. ANd that is who should have gone. IT is completely unfair and ridiculous for them to do anything else.

I mean obviously they were going to get rid of those 2. I didn't even need to see the sing-off (and i'm sure they had already made up their minds).

Thumbs down to whoever is in charge of this show.

Oh and re: the performances.

Laura just blew me away. I loved loved her. Last night my favorite Danny was Max.

My least favorites were jason (followed by kevin) and for the girls probably ally.

I think kate has a nice voice. But i find that her and juliana have a similar problem. They sound good. But i don't feel any real emotion from them. It feels like rehearsed emotion.

Forgot the Grammys were on last night. I wouldn't even have watched them, but was Stephen Sondheim on the aired portion of the show? Was there a tribute of some kind?

DR FJL says that GREASER Austin has a dark side that would suit parts in gay musicals such as KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN and Mr William Finn's trilogy.

May I suggest that Austin play Fanny Brice in a revival of FUNNY GIRL?  Or they could call it FANNY GIRL!

DR RLP's post made me go to the internet to look something up.  He is indeed correct to call ALW - Lord Lloyd Weber.

BUT when one is merely a "Sir" - the title is used with the first name.  Mr McCartney is Sir Paul, and for a time ALW was Sir Andrew.

Awaiting the travel news from DR MBARNUM'S friends.  And his reaction to JUKE BOX RHYTHM - about a princess in disguise, and the production of a Juke Box Broadway Musical.

So many choices for the TOD and DR MS has certainly made a worthy list.

I will second some and add some to his list.

Accentuate the Positive - Ella Mae Morse

String of Pearls & Moonlight Serenade & In the Mood - Glenn Miller

Sentimental Journey - Miss Doris Day

I Wish I Didn't Love You So - Betty Hutton

Baby It's Cold Outside - by several people

White & Have Yourself a Merry Little [Christmas]

Anything sung by Judy Garland....although my favorite song of hers would come in the next decade.

TOD:

I love the music of the 40's, but at the mo' all I can really think of is "Tangerine" and I'm not even sure if that was written in the 40's or 30's.

TOD: (okay, I thought of some...)

Tuxedo Junction -- Glenn Miller
Paper Doll --  THe Mills Brothers
I'll Get By -- Harry James
Rum And Coca Cola -- The Andrews Sisters  (anything by the A Sisters, for that matter)
Stone Cold Dead In The Market -- Ella Fitzgerald

Good morning, all!  I had written a long post but lost it.  My sister-in-law's computer's been recalcitrant this morning.

My dad looks awful: one eye permanently closed, the other half open and watering, gaunt, very dry and cracked skin.  He fortunately still has his mental faculties and knows I am here and who we are.  He still knows where personal effects are, as well.

DR Dan(theMan), I am okay, thanks for asking.  I've sat with him and held his hand, he's aware that I'm here and he heard me tell him how much I loved him, for which he reciprocated by squuezing my hand.

My sister-in-law Jo Ann has become very close to him, taking him to and from appointments and errands, and she's a pillar of strength during all this.  Randy is keeping the number of visitors down, some of whom my dad has asked not to see in his condition, and Randy refuses to let the house become a sideshow.

The weekend hospice caregiver came yesterday, stayed about an hour, and left a brochure on dying, which I read this morning.  I believe his death will be relatively soon.  My brother Tom came by last night and stayed about an hour, but I think he's a bit rattled over the whole procedure.  I'm giving myself up to it entirely, going with the flow, trying to help as much as I can, and trying not to let Lady Macbeth's conscious attempts to turn trivia into major catastrophes.  She's already stirred up one this morning.

Monday morning greetings!  We have great weather uncertainty here in SW Ohio, with predictions varying wildly from 6-10" of snow to accumulating ice with the potential for power outages.  I hope they're wrong on all accounts.
