MILK DUDS
« on: February 15, 2007, 12:37:48 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like a defective cow teat, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're trying to find out which of them has the defective cow teat, aka Milk Duds.

And assuming that theater songs can be considered...any songs from Sondheim's Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Pacific Overtures and Sweeney Todd.  Specifically, some of my favorite Sondheim songs from the 70s are:

Being Alive
The Ladies Who Lunch
You're Gonna Love Tomorrow/Love Will See Us Through
I'm Still Here
Broadway Baby
The Road You Didn't Take
Someone In a Tree
(probably #1!)
Pretty Lady
A Little Priest

Just to name a few. :D

An offering to perk-up the workshop show:
Quote
RED-NECK VALENTINE'S LOVE POEM

Collards is green
my dog's name is Blue
and I'm so lucky to have
a sweet thang like you.

Yore hair is like cornsilk
a-flapping in the breeze
Softer than Blue's
and without all them fleas.

You move like the bass,
which excite me in May.
You ain't got no scales
but I luv you anyway.

Yo're as satisfy'n as okry
jist a-fry'n in the pan.
Yo're as fragrant as "snuff"
right out of the can.

You have som'a yore teeth,
for which I am proud;
I hold my head high
when we're in a crowd.

On special occasions,
when you shave under yore arms,
well, I'm in hawg heaven,
and awed by yore charms.

Still them fellers at work,
they all want to know,
what I did to deserve
such a purdy, young doe.

Like a good roll of duct tape
yo're there fer yore man,
to patch up life's troubles
and fix what you can.

Yo're as cute as a junebug
a-buzzin' overhead.
You ain't mean like those far ants
 I found in my bed.

Cut from the best cloth
like a plaid flannel shirt,
you spark up my life
more than a fresh load of dirt.

When you hold me real tight
like a padded gunrack,
my life is complete;
Ain't nuttin' I lack.

Yore complexion, it's perfection,
like the best vinyl sidin'.
despite all the years,
yore age, it keeps hidin'.

Me 'n' you's like a Moon Pie
with a RC cold drank,
we go together
like a skunk goes with stank.

Some men, they buy chocolate
 for Valentine's Day;
They git it at Wal-Mart,
it's romantic that way.

Some men git roses
on that special day
from the cooler at Kroger.
"That's impressive," I say.

Some men buy fine diamonds
from a flea market booth.
"Diamonds are forever,"
they explain, suave and couth.

But for this man, honey, these won't do.
Cause yo're too special, you sweet thang you.
I got you a gift, without taste nor odor,
more useful than diamonds...
IT'S A NEW TROLLIN' MOTOR!!

With apologies to Cason "Cupid" Murphy.

The Macbeths arrived while I was writing my post on my father's death.  Hospice got here around 2 AM to fill out the paperwork, notify the doctor, contact the funeral home, and toss all the remaining drugs down the toilet.  As executor, I had to sign the forms.

Around 4 AM, the funeral home showed up to remove the body, asked us to call around 8 AM to set an appointment to purchase the coffin, take care of the obituary, and plan the funeral.  I'm on my fourth cup of coffee and I would love a nap.  The Macbeths just left, and I could be paranoid, but I'm sensing a bit of hostility from my brother and Lady M (so what else is new?).  Speculations on this round are endless, but my initial impulse is that it's over the fact that I am the executor and that he isn't.  He's already let me know I don't deserve an inheritance, so I'm sure this latest turn of events has him and Lady M a bit miffed.

More news to follow.  I wish you all a wonderful day.

Not of my own choice.  I will be up till the round of appointments, trouser alterations, and planning are accomplished.  I will stay busy until then.

Oh, the rain comes a-pitter patter
And I'd like to remain in bed;
Skies are weeping while the world is sleeping
Troubles heaping on our head.
It is vain to remain and chatter
And to wait for a clearer sky;
Helter-skelter I must fly for shelter
Till the clouds roll by.
